Anyone have any positive/negative experience with Knights M110 rifle stock? Thinking I may want to go with one for a replacement of the SOPMOD on an LMT.

    Thanks for your time.

    Don't do it. Reasons:

    1) I personally recommend an LMT SOPMOD or Magpul ACS over the M110 stock based on having used all three quite extensively (issued M110 SASS and my own SR-25 EMC). If I was allowed to (and had the money to blow) I would try to get a replacement EMC buffer tube kit installed on my work M110.

    2) If my opinion isn't worth anything to you, consider this: one of the chief user complaints across the board regarding the M110 SASS is the stock in its current form. The solicitation for the new M110 Compact-SASS (solicitation: https://www.fbo.gov/index?s=opportunity&...bb1afd2bdae4680 ) specifies a collapsible buttstock, and for a good reason.

I am sure someone will come along and say that they like it, but generally speaking that is not the case with most users.

The M110 stock is an older design without much of a following. Magpul PRS and ACS are significantly better stocks. The ACS in particular balances nicely with a shorter barreled .308.

I had one and it all depends what you're looking for from it.

The negative I see with the KAC stock is the fucking price! It's typical KAC expensive but the quality was good. I had one of the first sold to the public and I liked it and it did what I wanted it to do. If you're going copy / replicate an M110 then it's the way to go otherwise if you're looking for an adjustable LOP stock there's other cheaper options that are just as good or better. Or stick with the LMT SOPMOD for a good stock and all the adjustment you'll ever need so long as you live in a free state.

If I come across a M110 stock for the right price I'll buy one but I won't pay retail for one that's for sure.

    This was mine.

What is it that people dislike about this stock?

I set my long range AR's up with a similar stock; A2 with adjustable butt plate from Accuracy Speaks. It's not "tactical", but they work really well for me.

The good -- it does what the Army specified.

The bad -- it does what the Army specified.

The first idiot civilian in the military requirements writing process forgot the basic premise from 9-11 on that the American Soldier wears body armor. Not a bad stock for shooting from prone in fatigues from a shooting mat.

Thank you for letting me access your experience.

My reason for asking - I may want to be safe concerns a compliance requirement. My use will be from the bench or mat with no body armor.

I like the PRS but it seems it will make a heavy rifle (LMT MWS) even heavier/awkward. I havent checked the weight comparisons maybe PRS is the way to go.

You sort of hit it, the PRS is heavy and the KAC stock is not........ The KAC just doesn't offer some of the features that the PRS offers. It's all a trade of give and take depending what you want if you can put cost aside. Then cost comes into the picture and people minds change very fast unless money is no object.

    Re: Knights M110 rifle stock

My $.02 is it sucks. It's heavy (for what it is), minimally adjustable (LOP only), uncomfortable awkward butt plate.

The Army is now trying to get new stocks, along with shorter barrels and better optics for the 110's.

That's where this enters the picture.

The PRS may be a little heavy but honestly when your stated end use for this rifle is shooting off a mat or bench the rifles weight should be low on your list of concerns. I have a PRS on my precicion AR and the rifle comes in at around 16-17 lbs all said and done it is heavy but in the end I dont mind lugging around the extra lb or two the PRS weighs as I am not humping it through the mountains for days at a time and for the shooting I do mostly from a bench or prone with some positional and competitve shooting the PRS gives me everything I need.

The LMT MWS is good to go as an M110 class rifle in NRA/CMP known distance matches. I may shoot an iron sight KD match every once in while with the LMT when bored with my Garand/03's. Thats where weight may be an issue.

I understand the LMT to be front heavy so a PRS may balance it out for offhand. Any experience with that? PRS may not be legal for those type comps where the M110 and the issue SopMod should pass muster.

Conventional wisdom here is M110 stock will be a downgrade. I'll not go that route unless I get to a point I have to pin my SopMod.

I had one and it is nice quality but sop mods are a better solution. I like the magpul sl-s
