Just wondering if anyone has shot one of these new rifles yet. I just bought one on GB and should have it tomorrow. I basically was wondering if I can expect 1/2 inch groups. I have an 18" PredatOBR on order but we all know Jesus will return before that thing ships.

Re: KAC SR15 LPR.....accuracy expectations?

it's not a bull barrel so prob not 1/2" moa all day long.... you will most likely get a 1/2" 5shot group once in a great while... out of maybe 10 targets that have 1 group / 5shot each, one out of the ten targets might be pushing 1/2"moa.... once in a blue moon maybe you'll get a group under 1/2".

it really depends on the shooter! most likely, 1-1/2" to 3/4" groups.... prob more like 1"moa all day long type of rifle, which is actually really good and realistic. get the whole "shoots .5moa all day long" mind set out of your mind.

I'm coming close to the conclusion that if you are not rocking a bull barrel on your AR, then you better get the whole "shoots .5moa all day long" mind set out of your mind. Bull barrel = max accuracy = great for target/varmint = handles barrel heat and vibration = bench rifle... bull barrel AR's will give you max accuracy, but it will be nothing you will be able to really grab and go with over long distances. Each rifle has it own purpose.

As for my LMT, your 18" PredatOBR on the way, and your new KAC SR15... rifles with heavy barrels or light barrels are NOT .5moa all day long rifles. I would be happy with any groups under 1-1/2" and especially under 1".... if you can get 6groups, 5shots each, all in a row, AND all under sub moa, then you got yourself a kick ass rifle WHILE proving to yourself superior shooting skill.... driving a gas gun is just as important to the quality of the rifle.

Not saying your KAC or your 18" PredatOBR on the way will not be a .5moa all day long type of rifle, but it is DAMN HARD and the shooter plays a more important role than the rifle itself IMO. 40%shooter, 40%rifle, and 20%ammo. A more realistic expectation would be, "will my rifle be a sub moa shooter?".

Re: KAC SR15 LPR.....accuracy expectations?

BTW, i know my LMT is not your KAC or your incoming OBR, BUT i've pumped about 1k rounds thru my LMT and while I've come DAMN close to sub moa on ALL 6group, 5shots each, in a row...... i have failed every SINGLE time. It is possible with the right rifle, shooter, and ammo. I will eventually get sub moa soon.

Re: KAC SR15 LPR.....accuracy expectations?

oh yeah, BTW.... can you tell in my targets above which group I started with first???? if you picked the lower left, then you're correct! notice even with my heavy barrel LMT my groups go to hell due to barrel heat...

hopefully this answers your question.

Until these are more in the hands of shooters and someone here puts one though it's paces we really won't know.

I'm sure it'll perform just dandy and be at least a 1moa gun as it should be. I'd all but bet it's as or more accurate than the SR15 Match I had and that was a fairly good shooter with a heavy Krieger 20" barrel and the LPR is an 18" Krieger with a Wylde chamber (I think).

KevinB said they were getting pretty good results from tests and I would say that's a good indication they are a solid package. I'd say 1moa is probably their goal.

I'm on the hunt for one, I have a couple irons in the fire right now so it's not needed at this very moment but I'll have an LPR in the near future. Give me a few months for more to make it to the market.

sr15match is correct IMO..... 1moa would be realistic and a good goal to shoot for..... if you get better, then don't sell it.
