I recently acquired two Ruger Mark II identical handguns from someone who just wanted to get rid of them. They are in good condition with very little wear on them. Upon further review they have consecutive serial numbers.

Does having consecutive serial numbers make them more valuable if sold as a pair? I looked on gunbroker to see what Mark II's are selling for and one of these model's is up for sale for $425. I really doubt they are worth that much each since I can buy a Mark III of a comparable model for about $300. I'm kinda just wondering if I have something special here or just two ordinary used plinkers?

    Any insight is much appreciated.

This is a quick cell phone picture of the two guns.

I have read that many people like the Mark II more than the Mark III.

I know some collectors that really go after serial numbers
Finding one of those guys locally might me tough. I don't know how much $ you got them. One like that in va go for 200-300 just as shooters. I would pick a reserve price you are cool with and put them on gunbroker as a set and see what happens. I would guess 1 of two things very little interest or ruger and serial number guys will go nuts.

They were purchased for $400 total.

when i bought my MKII (stainless, bull barrel target model), it was right when the 3's came out. it was more than the 3 because people didn't/don't like the 3.

Post em on Rugerforum.com. Radical Rod eats up cons. serial number Rugers. But be realistic on the price. GB is a good place to price guns, but they have to be selling and not an unrealistic starting price that is posted with no bidders. krw
