Haven't seen a thread on this yet. Any of you guys go after raccoons? Our furbearer hunting season starts Nov. 5. I am looking forward to taking my little girls this year also. Nothing like a bunch of hides hanging on the fence right. Time to break out the old marlin lever action 22 and give some coons a headache. I also sell squirrel hides, fox and hopefully this year some yotes.

Re: Furbearers

yeah, mega sports has a lot of my money, nothing recently since everything I do now is more specialty

before I went back to school I worked the outages at Braidwood as carpenter general foreman for Siemens on the turbine floor

Re: Furbearers

What kind of yardage you get at waterman? I'm down in the Quad Cities and got some local farms I shoot at. In the pre stages of setting up a range at a friends farm. Right now we got 300 yds. When crops are out should be around 800 or so. Keep in touch and maybe this spring we can do some shootin. I also have access to springfield armories range, but its only 175 yds.

Re: Furbearers

waterman has 600, I also have occasionally had access to 800 when the crops are out - In about 2 years I plan to join the club at Lodi for access to 1200 yds

Re: Furbearers

Yea not like 10 years ago here either. Then I could get $30-40 whole. Now its $5-10 skinned. Its a hell of a good time though. Definitely not my retirement plan. Well see what this year brings. It does help pad the Tikka funding though!

I've got a hat, and seen some fairly wicked coon coats.

Re: Furbearers

I checked out Milan and it looked like a cluster. You could only use the 600xd yd range when no one waa on any other ranges in the back half. Also looked like was closed for some kind of shooting event 90%lasts of the time. I didn't know there was a range in New Windsor though. Have to check it out. Right now though I think the range I'm building is going to be pretty sweet. Where you at in the Quad?

Re: Furbearers

There is no real money in coons anywhere in the US . I hunt , trap and put up everything else but coons ... I let my dogs tree them and stretch 'em but I don't need to skin one of those greasy bastards for 8 bucks ...
