Rifle Scopes Will SWFA ever put out a spotting scope?

Re: Will SWFA ever put out a spotting scope?

I would love to see some kind of compact spotting scope in the lower end of magnification with a ranging reticle. I think there is plenty of competition in the larger size spotting scopes from Vortex, Zen Ray, and others, but nothing that competes with the mk4 at the moment.

"If possible"

Newtonian Reflection for a very short overall length and large FOV maybe 80-100mm. Built in sliding sunshade. Very tough design maybe some composite over aluminum housing. Interchangable Eye peices, FFP 20-60 Miling reticle, 35X milling reticle, and 15x Milling reticle again for large FOV. Good eye relief for corrected vision. HD quality glass and mirrors. Some sort of glass or lense filter to protect typical open end of a newtonian style optic. Straight eye peice i think would be best. Overall length of around 15in +/- . Include a thick soft case with zip off covers for lenses and mount. Anything under 1500 maybe only include 1 eyepeice and it would be golden.

Again "IF" this is possible. It sounds cool to me :p . There are some newtonian spotting scopes out there. I think if the package was right and it was rugged than it would put SWFA one step ahead of everyone else. Might be the "Go To" ranging spotter

Is the mk4 considered a newtonian system?

[MarkLevinVoice]I think that you would be better off asking Celestron to add the reticle of your choice to the ULTIMA 100 Series.[MarkLevinVoice}

THERE, I SAID IT!!!

and I da-da-damn mean it.

2. Fixed eye piece. 30 power, but with a wide FOV and long eye relief. Must be able to use with eyewear on. But, have other selections for different applications.
3. Armored compact shape, like the Hemnsoldt, with dual mounts so that you may mount it "flat" or upright like the Hensoldt. Must include very nice lens covers.. rainproof nice. An onboard sunshade.

Big #4: A ranging reticle. Mil-Quad is nice for a scope, but slightly finer lines with more precise graduations would aid in very quick, precise work.

The dream reticle for me would be a an "L" shape with both vert/horizontal lines equal. Like a corner of a box, NOW, incorporate a way to rotate the "corner" to which ever corner the end user would like to have it placed in the FOV.

The hope would be an unobscured center with the reticle in the correct spot in the FOV to assist with rapid ranging.

SWFA may need to design and release two models.. one more compact for the field/hunting/comps and another for static type use?

We can dream, right? </div></div>

I think it Might be. I didnt see it advertised as such but I think it is. There are different ways of doing it to. I kind of like the looks of this one. (Its a cheap chinese thing.)

Another Newtonian Scope. Also cheap chinese

Re: Will SWFA ever put out a spotting scope?

Definitely some interest in an SWFA produced field scope ~10-40x, HD, simple FFP reticle like the milquad with numbers. Should compete nicely against the Leupold offering.

Re: Will SWFA ever put out a spotting scope?

I am in for a nice spotting scope with reticule matching the SS 5-20 HD, spotter needs to have HD glass also, any power over 30 would be great.

SWFA, has there been any movement lately on this?

I would have to agree with you Nebraska. Especially with all the stuff going on because of the wait.
