just got a new 260. i have a 308 and run a boresnake through at the range at the end of a session. runs easily.

got the 260, ordered the snake for the caliber (checked twice) and its very hard to pull through.

checking the net there are numerous reports of boresnakes getting stuck in barrels.

just checking the snake i swear it seems to be the same size more or less as the 308.

so i guess i wont use it and risk getting it stuck.

comments? get a smaller snake and use it on the 260? alternative to a snake? run a nylon brush through once followed by a clean patch using a bore guide and a dewey rod instead?

this is outside of periodic cleaning, carbon and copper removal.

You need a 6.5mm boresnake.

i got a 6.5 boresnake, thats the problem. double checked, unless whoever packaged it put the wrong size snake in the package. 260 = 6.5

Overall, I agree with you with one exception:

Ever put a muzzle in the dirt crossing a tyrolean traverse during a match?

It's not a 'real clean' but it's good for a quick emergency clean, remove rocks...

To each his own.

I use them to knock the chunks of carbon out of the bore when I am done shooting. I also used mine at the KPRC when someone managed to kick my rifle and wedge mud in the muzzle. The boresnake was a great aid in cleaning it out two minutes before I was up. Takes up less room than Otis kit or a "real" rod.

Re: boresnake for remington 260

If you've got CHUNKS of carbon, you've got problems beyond a bore snake.

If you're pushing a rod through your barrel after each firing, you've got problems beyond a bore snake...

but mainly psychological.

above is my thoughts also..

anyway, i ordered a 6mm boresnake so i'll try that. not gonna take a chance on the 6.5 again.

Re: boresnake for remington 260

i know my dpms 6.5 creedmoor i bought new came with a 25 caliber or .257 bore snake and worked/works great on the 6.5 calibers.
i just like it to take the carbon out quick like and put some oil in the tube for storage if need be.

Re: boresnake for remington 260

I have a 25,6.5mm,264cal Bore Snake and use it on my 260, it fits just right and works well.
