I lost a few pieces of my 308 W/W brass. I have a bunch of extra laying around. What are your thoughts on adding a couple of once fired into the mix of my 5x fired brass. I will be annealing all of these so I am assuming this will help some? All of the brass has only been trimmed once.

I wouldn't. I like to keep my lots as separate as possible. Think about it, by adding fresh stuff in with old stuff you're going to end up throwing away good brass when a lot of it goes to hell.

I do it all the time. hate to end up with two primers left over.

Re: Lost a few pieces of brass. Need advice.

I have roughly 15 pieces I will never use otherwise so there is no concern over getting rid of it.

no offense but win brass is kind of shitty. So i wouldnt worry about it. I cant see it hurting your accuracy.

Seems to be working fine out to 800 yards so far?

Don't sweat it. I've done it and haven't noticed any changes in accuracy.

I make sure I add the new cases that I have neck turned to the same dimensions, annealed all, and the added cases are selected on the basis of weight or volume (h2o) if I want to take the time.

As for Winchester being crappy brass, what do you expect for something that costs half the price of Lapua. If you sort through it and build a couple of "Matched Sets", uniform primer pockets/flash holes, anneal, it works just fine. Also holds more powder than Lapua if you're looking for more velocity.

Winchester may be crappy but it's the best of the "crappy" offerings out there.

In what way?

Longevity: I have a lot (50 pieces) that has 33 reload cycles on it wihtout annealing (bushing dies NOS). Over this time I have lost 2 from body cracks and 2 from ICHS.
Accuracy: The typical box of 20 shoots 1 5-round group in the 0.3x" range, 2 groups in the 0.4-0.5" range, and one group in the 0.6x" range.

I do it all the time, win brass is not that expensive that it matters that much.

Why would you throw a lot of it out at the same time? From my experience brass does not go bad at the same time and you will cull pieces out as you load. I would just throw away the bad piece and keep on loading. Not all of that lot of brass is going to go bad at the same time. If you dont run the brass hard they will last a long time.

Winchester might not be the best brass but it works for me. I dont worry about a piece of Winchester brass if I loose it. But when I loose a piece of Lapua or Norma I get a little more upset.
