I'm have most all the parts for a .308 build...Obermeyer barrel, 700 action, etc but need to order a reamer. The finished product would be used mostly for punching paper but it could see field use. I buy all my reamers from Mr. Kiff....looking at his list for the .308 raised more questions than answers....input from all you .308 shooters would be appreciated.

Re: which .308 reamer?

When I bought my 243 reamer I called Dave and gave him my requirements. He told me which reamer he would use and it turned out to be the prefect one for my project.
If I were you I would do the same. He is pretty easy to get on the phone.

Re: which .308 reamer?

what attributes make you choose the 308 Bisley and what about it differs from a std 308?

Re: which .308 reamer?

The 308 Bisley is the best selling 308 reamer to date. The Bisely has .088F.B. . The very first batch ground for the team had .080 F.B. but the British Radford Green Ammo ogive jumped back and fourth at least .010 but the average was .008 so we changed the F.B. by .008. After the change I had call's come in from many many folk's telling me it was perfect for at least four other case and bullet combination's. The 308 Match is very good also but the first thing folk's do is ask for me to change the neck size and the free bore length. After all the changes are made it looks like the Bisely or the Obermeyer reamer. My .02 cent's Thanks Dave Kiff

How does it compare to the M118 Special Ball reamer?

I'm curious too. I just had my new barrel chambered with an M118 Special Ball reamer.

Re: which .308 reamer?

I like the M-852 Reamer, works great for the 168/175 Federal GMM ammo.

I emailed yesterday and I was sent 3 different bisley reamer prints.
Two of them had 0.088" freebore callouts, but im confused about why 37843 has a callout of 0.1055" above the 0.088" while print 433 has a 0.095" callout above the 0.088".
Both reamers show a 2.025" neck ending dimension, a 45 degree chamfer and 0.3435" diameter necks.
What am I missing here?
Is Al gore doing your math?

The 3rd print has no number at all (dated 4/16/2003) and has the 0.080" freebore callout that you are talking about on the earlier version above.

So is the most popular one the 37843 and 433 has an error?

Re: which .308 reamer?

I've got a once-used Obermyer reamer that I plan on using on a rechamber. Looks like it must be a fairly decent reamer based on Dave's input.
