Maggie’s I think Mark has gone little wild.

Re: I think Mark has gone little wild.

I think it is pretty cool for back yards big enough and must be fun to shoot too with reusable arrows, a good way to go green

lol i can see the GOOD OL'D boys where i live having this....Im not going to lie, id shoot one, but i dont think i would ever buy one.

Re: I think Mark has gone little wild.

Long time poacher trick... arrow in a .410 with a cut-down shell to propel it. F&W up here does random wound powder residue checks during bow season for just this reason.

I see this as being really popular with the spotlight and open truck window crowd.

Yup... that's sporting...

Growing up in an area where the spotlight and open truck window crowd was prevalent, I never understand posts like these. Maybe the Northeast is just more crowded, but a gunshot isn't that much more noticeable than a couple million candle power light. The people who I know who do shit illegally would never use crap like this. Drop the money on a NV setup, yes, but not stupid shit like this.

I won't disagree... I've not seen the 'arrow .410' used in years. That trick dates back to loooong before NV or even crossbows were readily available... back in the '80s up here. You are right that people won't drop $$$ on this for poaching.
And generally F&W is looking for rifle shot deer w. arrows later poked through the hole... not 'shot' arrows these days. Point taken.

That said, 'Stuffy' our local decoy deer gets shot every time he gets put out. Sometimes multiple times a night. Night road hunting is a religion for some...

Cheers,

Sirhr

Re: I think Mark has gone little wild.

You are three years behind the times. LaRue has had that out for a long time.

I still see the .410 arrow from time to time.

Re: I think Mark has gone little wild.

Think about something like that in a survival scenario, harvesting food... quietly. It's genius if you ask me. I cant wait to get my hands on one.

Re: I think Mark has gone little wild.

would be pretty useful for throwing a line in a tall tree, for HAM antenna, etc

A real BOW!??!?! That would take some measure of skill to use, and shit. I'm just gonna use the "arrow pushed through the butthole" routine. F&W aint seen that one yet...

I live on the SW ridge of a Mountain here SE of B'ham (In the rest of the country it would be a hill) that has a state park on it. The State has only allowed bow hunting in the park for the last few years. Living here 20 years I tend to know the size of the deer population in the area, most are starving and will eat just about anything you put out in the flower box even if it's on your front porch. So when you make a turn at night an your headlights sweep a 12 pt buck standing in a clearing? I never slowed down, my Son an I looked at each other a said. Game wardens out tonight. LOL! Days later in the paper I read about an idiot who shot the thing 4 times. He was reloading when the warden asked him to put the damn rifle down. I'd say Runner up for a Darwin Award. LOL!
