Anyone have a Dillon 650 with a Hornady Bullet Feeder attached? If so, hows it working out for you? Did you have to modify the Dillon at all to make the case feeder work?
I would like to see some pictures if possible.
Before everyone says get a Mr Bullet Feeder, I would if they were priced more reasonable. But to me $450+ for initial setup + another $150 for caliber changes puts it way out of my league.

Have you looked on BrianEnos.com, way more their thing over there. I'm sure that a few guys have tried on that site.

I'm not trying to dampen your enthusiasm...but have you actually loaded much on that 650 you just got?

The thing is capable of a realistic 900 rounds an hour as it is.

Bullet feeders are sweet! I've had the MR. Bullet feeder before but I had it on a fully automated dillon 1050.....If I was still shooting that much I would buy another.

The thing is, I think once you really get setup and start cranking...for most people.... you'll find it hard to keep the 650 filled up with brass/bullets.

However if your just wanting to pimp your dillon have at it. The Hornady unit looks ok...but the MR. Bullet feeder does include a new powder die with a reshaped belling station that allows the cases to progress easier.

This is especially useful if you start loading alot of 9mm or 40 where you get "Glocked" brass and end up needing to use an undersize die to get rid of the bulge.

Re: Dillon 650 with Hornady Bullet Feeder?

Its all good.. Ive loaded about 1000 rounds so far. Reason Im inquiring about a bullet feeder is because im going to be loading for a few guys that shoot all the dang time at a local club. Just looking at options to make reloading easier. Best time for me on 100 rounds is 16 minutes lol. At that rate, Ill get to about 400 rounds an hour. From what I see, alot of my time is wasted putting the bullet on the shell. Sometimes they wobble off, some times they fall over sideways. I dont have the steadiest hands because I see myself knocking them over

Re: Dillon 650 with Hornady Bullet Feeder?

increase your belling more...

When you start cranking out 100 rounds in 5 minutes youll be excited.

I will tell you that for a while I just had the actual bullet drop die. It would hold about 15-20 bullets depending on caliber and you just continually refilled that instead of having to place each bullet.

For the 25 bucks hornady wants for a 9mm tube I'm tempted to buy one. It really did speed up reloading a reasonable amount plus it kept you from catching a finger.

Re: Dillon 650 with Hornady Bullet Feeder?

correct...then you just fill by hand as you crank.

Its easier to drop 'em in there than on top of the brass.

I used the KISS Ones but I'd assume the hornady are the same.

Re: Dillon 650 with Hornady Bullet Feeder?

Hope that you have insurance for and Type 6/7 FFL to keep you on the up and up....when you load for other people

HERE'S a thread about using clear plastic tubes to feed the Hornady bullet feed die.

I don't think they are supposed to work well with cast bullets. I'm curious as to why not. Anyone have first hand experience?

Re: Dillon 650 with Hornady Bullet Feeder?

They do not work that well with cast bullets due to the lube. It builds up faster than you would imagine and gums things up.

THAT makes sense. I read that it was because the lead was too soft, or something of the sort. That I couldn't wrap my mind around.

Do you know if Bayou Bullets or Precision Bullets (both have some kind of dry lube film) would also gum up the die? I can see how the wax type lube would.

Re: Dillon 650 with Hornady Bullet Feeder?

I had a Horandy bullet feeder die to test out on my 650, used a long piece of plexiglass tube to feed it. The die work OK with FMJ once adjusted but for lead you need to sparingly open up the collet with sandpaper and polish. At that point it's about 90 percent reliable. I gave up on the idea, it would have relegated me to using FMJ bullets only and was in fact way slower even at 100%. I can load 9mm at a rate of 100 every 6-7 minutes on average and load about 2K a month.
