Target Cam For ELD?

Re: Target Cam For ELD?

I am working with one right now, I have to finish checking it that far and have access to a location with that distance but so far it is looking good to 1 mile.

It's actually built in Las Vegas too... I have been busy with a lot of inside work and traveling but will report on it after the 21st

Re: Target Cam For ELD?

I'm currently using a 1.2ghz transmitter/receiver pair I picked up on EBay. Works quite well using the provided small antennas out to about 1k LOS. I've got a 28dbi Yagi on the way for the transmit side, and if need be I'll add a panel on the receiver side. I expect the Yagi alone will extend to over 2k yards.

We'll be using this system next week during the XLR class, so we'll really see how it holds up and what changes are required.

Cory,
Thanks for the reply and info. I'd be interested to see how your
rig does. Please let me know if you can on the outcome. I may
just see if I can find out what all's needed for this setup and
make my own rig.

Best.

Re: Target Cam For ELD?

Thanks, was hoping to find a self-contained off the shelf unit. Will look forward to seeing some reviews of the one lowlight is trialing.

Re: Target Cam For ELD?

I'm also interested in his review of the self contained unit, however when one can be assembled from off-the-shelf parts for so little coin, I'd think a consumer level unit in the sub $300 range should be out there. Perhaps something in the low end wireless security camera line.
There is certainly a need for high quality units like the one I suspect Frank is reviewing. Perhaps the same company will make an economy model for the rest of us.

Re: Target Cam For ELD?

After spending hrs. doing research over the past few days, as to what
components are best suited and used, I was able to find a store here locally
in North Las Vegas that sold what I needed.

I ordered the basic equipment and it should be here tomorrow.
Transmitter/Receiver, battery packs. I have the camera,
tripod and monitor saving myself some dough there.

I will begin setup and trial over the weekend working out the "bugs" and have hopes of
putting it to the test next week. If and when I have something usefull I will post up for anyone interested.

In addition, I did order an antenna/cable from a company in
Florida, to interface with the system when exceeding 1 mile which we did last week.
Looking forward to positive results.

Thanks to all who chimmed in with advice and links.

Best.
