Hey guys, I have been searching the last few days here on the hide and elsewhere trying to find a decent set of Mil Based Binoculars. Is there any out there for 350 bucks or under? Or maybe a used set I could score on ebay or something? I want something that has good optical clarity for hunting and the mil reticle so I can use them when we are shooting to help range or tell my buddy how far he missed in mils. What is out there? I know there are some 8x28 vortex for 400 bucks... but thats a little more than I wanted to spend? anything in the 200's at all? Thanks guys.

Surplus military binoculars are the best for the money. Deutsche Optik used to have a good selection of binoculars, but they are drying up.

I heard the IOR ones were made in china. I guess it doesnt have to be a deal breaker but that turned me off. I was hoping they were made in germany.

any other brands?

Tasco, Steiner but those are 5 mil marks. Leupold has one but they are pricey. I have used the Votex stuff and am very impressed with their glass, the small 8x monocular has mil reticle. IOR MP-8 has 1/2mil marks

In the optics for sale section here often there are US issue M-22 binos new in the wrap forsale. It seems on frequent poster has a line on getting them. If you try a search in that specific forum section you may be able to contatc and see what he has in stock.

IOR is made in Romania,...not China and use Schott lenses. Simply fantastic quality and no longer made due to the cost. You can sometimes find them in new condition at sensible prices.

There's a difference and not necessarily interchangeable when talking to a shooter in a mRad scope.
