Has anyone done this or am I just a crazy person who is used to front cocking serrations on a 1911?

If anyone has done this, can you recommend a smith?

If nobody has done this, are there any smiths who'd like to take a shot at it?

Pretty much anyone that's worked on Glock slides I would imagine. I've seen lots of pics of weight reducing mods...I don't see why serrations would be any harder to machine.

I use this type.

They aren't, except for the M&P style wave serrations shown above that require a CNC machine.
I managed to 'emulate' them on a manual mill but they just aren't quite the same.

It's also a bit more tricky to do the angled windows on a manual mill as well. I've managed those with reasonable success.

Being that Glocks are recoil operated, does all the whittling affect timing/cycling at all? (Due to the change in slide weight) I've wanted to fiddle with my G19 for awhile but haven't because of fear of goofing something up.

Just curious.

If it happens Chad, you would just need to drop down to a slightly lighter spring weight.

I have approx. 8000 rounds through my gun after the slide mods and have had zero malfunctions that I can contribute to the serrations. I did not weigh my slide before I had it machined though so I have no idea much much weight has been taken off.

Put a Wolff un-captured guide rod in it and get different spring weights. You could also get a Lone Wolf(blind marked) stainless slide to mess with. I have had a few come through my hands and they are pretty nice and not that expensive. Caspian was making them at one time but I'm not sure if they still do.

Re: Front Cocking Serrations on a Glock

Changing weight does very much so affect cycling. Everyone gave the correct answer of tuning spring rates.

Having said that, adding optics/top rails/slide mounted compensators/slide rackers/etc will mess with weight a lot more than lightening cuts and custom serrations.

Making the slide heavier is much more problematic than making it lighter.
