Thinking of getting a millett scope due to budget.... Just not sure wheather to get the trs or lrs I'm planning to put this in a remington sps aac. Distance is an issue since local range only goes to 500 meters . Let's just say I would want to go 700 or even 1000 meters considering budget what do u all recomend .

Thanks

Re: millett lrs

In the end it is up to you. If you are truly on a budget, then throwing money away on a Millet is not prudent. Look for a used Leupold or Vortex, you will have better glass and a lifetime, transferable warranty. Also if you decide to change scopes later, the Leupy and Vortex will retain more value than a used Chinese scope.

I have found some great deals at SWFA http://www.samplelist.com/ViewProducts.aspx not affiliated, just a satisfied customer.

Re: millett lrs

IMHO
I have a NF NXS, a Leopould Mk4,had a Vortex viper & still have a Millet
I am impressed with the crarity & function of a scope 1/10 the price of the others
I have shot 1/2 moa with all 4 out to 500 yrds
I would not hesitate to buy another Millet -
if I were on a budjet it would be my 1st choice
I actually prefer it over the VV for its longer eye releif

Re: millett lrs

its a 4-16 x 56 mildot Buck Gold or something like that
-cant remember it has a side focus
I have the box somewhere
if i find it I'll let ya know
you can always use it for a 22 or something later
when ya get richer
FYI
I have seen leopoulds sell on here for 350.00ish

Re: millett lrs

I have both. An LRS on a .408 windrunner and the TRS on a .338lm ar-30. Both have been great and I would not hesitate to buy another one. On a Rem 700 I think the LRS would be too big; it's huge and heavy. I think the TRS would work out better and still has plenty of magnification.

Re: millett lrs

i went to the local gun shop and they had both scopes out , i asked to see both of them and the lrs is a monster, i just didnt want to get the trs and regret not having the magnification. realisticly i think im not going to shoot pass 600 meters

Re: millett lrs

I have a few scopes from NF to loopys and I also have a Millett TRS. I bought the TRS as my first mil/mil to see how I liked the system, and it has performed flawlessly. Mounted on a 308, 270, and a 22 and adjustments are perfect and returns to zero. Glass is fine for target shooting, reticle subtends perfect at full (16x) and at half power just double it.

Obviously it is no NF, but for $320 I have to say it's a hell of a value. Currently resides on my sons rifle and he is learning the mil system with it.

Also has a lifetime warranty from Bushnell.

Re: millett lrs

I have a Millet LRS 6x25 56mm on my Savage 10 FCP and its shoots fine. Its good for the money.

Re: millett lrs

Avoid the LRS like the plague. I've heard good about the TRS but I sent 4 LRS units back within 3 months for various issues. First time the cap screw stripped after resetting(this wasn't my first rodeo so not operator error. shitty, soft materials). 2nd unit, the elevation cap began skipping and eventually spinning freely before I even had a chance to establish a zero. Checked the internals and it stripped on it's own while boresighting. 3rd unit had a lot of debris in the tube and the 4th had a litany of issues.

This was all AFTER Bushnell had taken over and their CS was very helpful but it's seriously not worth the money. I don't care if you're shooting 20 yards you'll never hit what you aim for.

Re: millett lrs

I read the review on the millstone scope....very informative . The thing is that I'm also bent in a trijicon accupoint ....if I could I would like to get that instead

Re: millett lrs

The accupoint is a very good hunting optic but I'm not sure how well it lends itself to really getting out there. The reticle options, if I'm not mistaken, are more for game animals at typical hunting distances and may end up covering your target at 7 or 800. Awesome optics and awesome company, though. Never understood how someone could blow $1,400 on a 4x ACOG until I used one.

Re: millett lrs

I bought it, like those above, to learn the mil system, and will be mounting it on a Savage Mk2 FV or FV-SR. I also like that it has 140 MOA of adjustment. I like the idea that with a 100 yard zero and big base, I could get a .22 out to ridiculous ranges. I bought mine used with TPS low rings, and it seems that I will be able to sell it for what I have in it if i get to that point. Take a used one for a test drive.

If you are looking for the budget stuff, you might also consider the Falcon Menace, Primary Arms 4-14, and the MidwayUSA BSA 4-14, they are all mil/mil, and are FFP.

Re: millett lrs

I've had several trs 1's and I still have two of them. I've beat the hell out of them and have never had a problem with any of them. I think they are an awesome scope for the price!

Re: millett lrs

I'm looking at a LRS also to put on a RRA LAR-8 and get into long range shooting. My brother can get me a good deal on one so I'm going to try it. From what I read most people like them and have no problems with them. But with all things man made, some bad eggs are bound too happen.

Re: millett lrs

I guess it just boils down to if your lucky or not I've heard of people getting bad scopes and others having no problems ....I also want to get a lar308 ....if u do get that one let me know how it works out for you

I plan to order it on Friday when I get paid so maybe Mid/end of next week I get to shoot it and I'll let y'all know how it goes.

Re: millett lrs

I have a Millett TRS on an M1A. It has worked out great for me with fairly decent glass quality, repeatable turrets, and (as previously mentioned) TONS of internal adjustment.

For the price, I don't think it was a bad choice. I went with the TRS over the LRS because I saw less bad reviews, FWIW.

Re: millett lrs

I have read that the glass gets cloudy around 12 power how is yours can u go up to 16x with no problem
