AR optics question

I am putting together an 18" bull-barreled AR and want a red-dot AND low-power scope. What is the best way to mount the red-dot at a cant? Anyone have a recommendation on a cheaper, quality-made 45 degree mount? I might go with a Weaver 1-3 or 4 scope up top.
Thanks again,
-JA

Re: AR optics question

Not too cheap but Warnes new mount is good with removable 45 degree side mounts on either side. Its just according to what sights you want to run.I have seen these mounts on the for sale thread for around $100.Hope this helps

Re: AR optics question

There is a lot of new companies making optic mounted optics. 30mm or 1" ring with a red dot mount on it. Just an idea. I'm not fond of red dots and optics, but hey, it's your gun not mine n ill mind my own business!

Re: AR optics question

KAC, LaRue and maybe others make Aimpoint Micro mounts that put Aimpoint H-1/T-1s at a 45* angle. Not the cheapest options, but should work well.

You can also get a picatinny rail section that is offset 45* and could work with the standard Aimpoint micro mount. This would be the cheapest option. Daniel Defense makes one for around $35 and might be a good place to start. Other companies make them as well (Gear Sector, GG&G, Weaver, Warne, etc). Looks like some may be as cheap as $10-15, but I can't speak to the quality.

+1 to the Warne RAMP mount. I got to handle one a few months ago and it appears to be very well made. It is not a QD mount though.
