New Bastard brake options

I just wanted to let you guys know that we cranked out a few new brake options. I haven't put them up on the website yet but I'll have them up shortly. They are as follows.

Fat Bastard brake 3/4 x24 TPI
Both the standard model and the new 3/4 x 24 are available in standard steel in addition to stainless.

Little Bastard available in standard steel.

This should help those guys wanting to closely match a factory color scheme by parkerizing them. Hope this helps the guys that wanted it.

We are working on some new goodies and have a lot more planned it's just getting to it all. We've already taken over another 2500 sq ft next door for some new machines.

Re: New Bastard brake options

Congrats Jered. Hope to do more business with you in the future. My Savage is still a tack driver that you rebarreled and put on the Little Jimmy Brake.

I was just in the market for a 3/4-24 brake for my DTA SRS!

Re: New Bastard brake options

Not about being an advantage - some rifles come threaded with that muzzle thread. The DTA SRS is one example, and I think maybe some of Knight Armament's stuff too.

You have to remove less material from your barrel for threading.
Removing material at the muzzle can lead to the muzzle opening up a bit, which would hurt accuracy.
This doesn't have to happen and usually doesn't happen with quality barrels.

ps: Not the machining but the lack of material withstanding the steel's inherent stresses would cause this, just to make things clear.

Re: New Bastard brake options

In theory. But more precision rifles are threaded 5/8-24 than anything else, without issue.

Re: New Bastard brake options

With stress relieved barrels there shouldn't be a problem.
I'm not saying it's a big issue, or even an issue one should be remmotely concerned about.
Just one thing to consider when having a barrel threaded.

Re: New Bastard brake options

I have a question Jered.... why did you all stop making the APA bolt knob for the Surgeon actions?! Those were the bomb! And I need some!

Re: New Bastard brake options

Do share! I need one for my Surgeon XL. This hand grenade knob they have is eating my knuckles up.

Re: New Bastard brake options

Let me know if you need someone to test one of the new surgeon knobs out

Re: New Bastard brake options

Here is what we came up with. Instead of forcing people to use our knob we made an adapter that should fit anyone's bolt knob with the standard 5/16x24 thread.

The cost will be $20 for the adapter itself.
We have them ready to ship know but they won't be on the website until we finish the shipping upgrade we are currently doing.
