I've contacted Leupold custom shop and they advised they could convert the knobs from M1 MOA to M5 MIL for a fee. I just wanted to see if anyone out there has done so and had a positive experience with it.

I'm doin' it, let me know if yours gets back to you before mine does and I'll do the same for you.

Re: Leupold M1 to M5 conversion?

I had one done on a 3.5x10 MK4. It has been flawless and with the TMR it is a nice piece of kit. Mine was done last year and has been twisted alot. I really hope Leupold does it for all their MK4s. When I had mine done they would only do the 10x scopes and was supposed to do the rest later on. I hope so as I have a 14x and a 20x MK4 that I will send in for the "Battlefield Upgrade" if they offer it. I have no doubts that if Leupold had this mil/mil configuration years ago their sales would not be losing as much to competitors.

Re: Leupold M1 to M5 conversion?

Thanks for the responses guys. As far as the cost is concerned, It's approximately $135. I have a LRT 6.5-20x with M1 knobs and they said they could do the mod on this particular model.

Re: Leupold M1 to M5 conversion?

This caught my attention because I just emailed Leupold regarding the conversion on my scope of the same model. I was told that it can only be done on an ERT, not the LRT.

Re: Leupold M1 to M5 conversion?

I called Leupold earlier this week. The 3.5-10 and the 8.5x25 are currently aviliable for upgrades for around $175.

The 4.5-14 and the 6.5-20 will not be aviliable until later this year around Nov. I was told..??

I have the 4.5-14 so I guess I'll have to wait...

It is good that thaey are coming around!!

This is what makes me wonder who is running things at leupold..... I understand doing the 10x first as there are SO many of these fielded by mil/leo but so are the 14x powers! In fact, my old units M107s was wearing 14x and that is fairly current (08').
I have a 20x and a 14x to send in as soon as they offer it but DANG they are SLOWWWWWWWW!

I feel ya brother.

Re: Leupold M1 to M5 conversion?

Wow, there's a lot of different comments regarding what Leupold has told all of us. Well, I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but will let you guys know what comes of it when I do.

Re: Leupold M1 to M5 conversion?

On this conversion, it's not just the turrets that they are replacing is it? I'm not sure, but they'd have to replace the internals as well, right?

Re: Leupold M1 to M5 conversion?

I had mine done about 2 months ago. Had the turrets changed from M1 to M5 and the standard mil-dot to a TMR. It took just under 3 weeks door to door if I recall correctly. As far as the mechanical work I honestly dont know what they do. I imagine it's a different erector mechanism but that's just a SWAG on my part. They are nice, they "click" with a good solid feel on each adjustment. It's not as audible as I remember the M1 being but once again I may be misremembering. It'd been awhile since I'd been behind my gun (it was at GAP). I'm glad I did this though much, much happier with my scope now.

How much did the whole conversion job cost you? I don't have to pay shipping. Just drop it off.
