What would cause my firing pin to punch a hole on the primer? It's also leaving some good marks on the case. I recently took the bolt apart to clean it and the gun went from under 1 moa to over 2 moa accuracy. I also have a pri adjustable gas block that my be overgassed. I had to adjust it out at the range from it not gassing enough and cycling improperly.

Re: Help with bolt or maybe gas block?

Is this a new rifle? Looks like getting extractor swipe which is a sign of excessive pressure. You may want to check the rounds if you reload or the headspace of you rifle if factory.

Looking again.. are those SuperPerformace rounds from Hornady? If so, they are know to run hot and could be the cause. Try some of the Match ammo and see if it produces lower pressure results.

Thanks for the reply! It was superperformance. Do you think the rifle being over gassed could cause it also? It is a new rifle, 80 rounds through it so far. I'll check the headspace too.

Re: Help with bolt or maybe gas block?

Those loads are too hot for your rifle. Adjusting the gas might help a little with the swipes by keeping the bolt locked a little bit longer but that is not the correct fix.

whats your rifle specs?
