    I am a big fan of NF and love the NXS but have gotten to where I really like having a FFP optic for my style of shooting.

    I know NF has had no trouble selling their optics in the last few years, but I'm just curious why they haven't put something out similar to the 5.5-22 NXS in a F1 model like they do in the 3-15? Seems like they are a bit behind the curve with that for people shooting out past 800 yards or so.

    Again, love the brand and don't want to start a SFP vs FFP thread, just looking for info from those "in the know."

    Would that be the beast that was discussed last year? I've wondered the same thing myself why NF doesn't offer a higher mag FFP but will be interested in whats coming soon.

    Just how you interpret the word "Soon". I love my 5 NF's but I'm very happy with my new S&B. I know you'll say its worth the wait but at my age that's not really an option.

    Based on Nightforce's history of riflescope releases, I would put money on a SHOT Show release.

    I know there have been rumors of something for a few years, but I've got a good feeling this SHOT is going to be a big one for Nightforce.

    My understanding is that this new NF offering is supposed to be direct competition for S&B with a price to match. However that is an extremely tall order and while I used to be on the bandwagon for one of these scopes, the consistent delays as well as the incredible all around quality of S&B will keep me from the front of the line on this scope.

    I am not ruling out the possibility of me ultimately buying one of these scopes but it will take a large number of glowing reviews for me to consider this scope over another S&B.

    I'd be happy if they would release simply an F1 in 5.5-22x rather than a $3500 monster that attempts to dethrone Bender. I bought two Benders because I wanted FFP and ZS on a high-mag scope. I'd probably have bought three 5.5-22x56 "F1"s if they existed.

    Hmmm, I sure hope it would be more in line with the 5.5-22x rather than a S&B priced scope. I'm all for buying American and stuff, but would rather do it and save $1000 with a F1 NF in the power setting ideal for LR/ELR.

    I *believe* the NF plan is to release two 5-25(ish) units. I think one of them will essentially be a higher magnification F1, and the other is "the beast" scope with uber-glass and super-magic gizmos and features.

    If that's the case, why wait so long? I'm sure it couldn't take much more to apply the same technology to the 5.5-22x than it took years ago with the 3.5-15 F1. I almost pulled the trigger on the F1 but decided I needed more magnification and now have two 5-25 PM-IIs. Still may consider one in the future as I do need one more scope.

    i would like to see multiple new options. 5.5-22 F1, HD glassed SFP scopes, and whatever the BEAST may bring. i think they have the mechanical features down pretty well so it just begs the question, what could they be working on to have generated this much buzz for what? 3 yrs?

    I expect Nightforce is has been feeling a bit of a squeeze from all the folks out there selling Light Optic made products lately. I wouldn't be surprised to see them buy some Shott glass and try to make hay in a higher price bracket.

    Can the do it? I certainly think that with a switch in glass supplier producing a scope to compete in the top price bracket is quite possible for a company that has had good success with upper middle range stuff and whose reliability has many of its customers thinking that they are already competing in the top price bracket.

    I have been a little surprised at how long "beast" roomers have been floating about and how little has showed up. Last year at Shot I couldn't believe it when all the Nightforce folks had to show was a new reticle with similar features to many other makers reticles. Nightforce will certainly be on my first days list at Shot this year and I'm going to have a conniption if they show me another reticle and no new scopes. Given the wait and the fact that a 5x erector ratio is really common today I am expecting some good, and hopefully tool-less features to make this thing stand out. I would also like to see a new 1-(n)x scope. Their 1-4x shows its age.

    In "The Beast" thread, someone linked up to some of the patent-applications of NF. Don't remember what they were about exactly, but definitely some lofty aspirations.

    Lowlight has chimed in a bunch of times stating/bragging he's had his mitts all over it, and it's going to be great.

    In regard to your HD glass comment, I think NF would do better to skip the HD and simply change their current 5.5-22 to FFP. I'm not an optics engineer, but I <span style="font-weight: bold">do know</span> that back in the day, you sent your Leupold to Premier and they modded your scope to make it FFP, so you don't have to move heaven and earth to change a SFP to FFP.

    Anyway, what I'm getting at is NF would be up to it's eyeballs in orders for 5.5-22 FFPs if they didn't bother with any new fancy other shit like magic turrets and HD glass. Just offer the same damn thing that exists now, but with a reticle that grows and shrinks when you twist the eyepiece!!!

    But I guess that was the whole point of this thread...

    They are very nice scopes the wait will be well worth it.
