I got a Lee Classic Cast press with the Hornady adapter kit. When installing the adapter, what's the best way to tighten it down in the press?

I was thinking I'd use some blue Loctite on the 1 1/4-12 threads between the press and the adapter, and install a die with locking ring to tighten it down as much as I can.

Re: Hornady L 'n L Adapter Install

Dont need locktite, just snug it down. No turning force involved.

I use them on all my dies.

Re: Hornady L 'n L Adapter Install

I'm not referring to the bushing that goes on the die, I'm referring to the adapter that screws into the press so you can use the bushings.

It's come loose from the press a few times today while I was setting up my depriming die. Instead of the bushing coming out, the bushing AND the adapter would start unscrewing.

I installed this adapter in my Rock Chucker. To tighten it I took a die with an RCBS Lock Nut on it. Then, with the "bushing" about half way into the adapter, and using the RCBS Die Nut Wrench, I tightened the crap out of the adapter. No more backing out of the press. Of course one could use loctite. If you never want to remove the adapter, just use some "Red". For my setup I haven't had to use anything.

brass drift
I tryed using a dye

On the adapter? It doesn't have any flats for a wrench.
