looks great! The barrel fluting looks great as does the brake. How many sheets of plywood did you laminate to make your stock? Would it have been easier to take a solid oak "beam" and run it on the same CNC machine? Just asking nit picky questions. Great looking stick

Re: check out this rifle i built

Damn I love spiral fluting. I'm also curious about using a solid oak beam on the CNC machine.

Re: check out this rifle i built

I've worked hard to be a bad boy all year ;-) Thus via some very, very complicated math, I figure it's twin belongs under my 7-foot Spruce right about December (or a touch sooner). Can I send you a 3' blank of laminated Birdseye Maple, & a Rock Creek blank?

Seriously, that's some sweet work. Dare I ask what contour the barrel is, & how much weight you think that that GORGEOUS fluting pulled off of it? I've had spiral tube lust for quite a while, nice to see a DIY version of it. Perhaps a range report will be forthcoming on her?

Re: check out this rifle i built

Ok guys first off i laminated 3 pcs of 3/4 cabinet plywood and the wood never touched a cnc it was all hand shaped lol. the only time the wood touched a mill was when i inletted it for the action and that was on a manual mill. The bbl is a rem varmint 5r bbl. As far as weight reduction it didnt do much but the rifle doesnt weigh much because the wood stock is nowhere near the weight of one of my T4 stocks. I only built one load for it and it grouped abt 7/8" with 3 shots but i was also shooting out of a window and the rear was on shooting sticks. Honestly i didnt have time to get it on bags im sure itll put 5 well within an inch.

What do I think?

You have skills that most people don't have.

nice job

Re: check out this rifle i built

If it were mine i would be afraid to take it out, you built a one of a kind. Great work. MM

Re: check out this rifle i built

That is a classy looking piece of work. Planning on doing anything else with it?

Re: check out this rifle i built

Well as soon as i got it done i had to give it away. It was built for a friend and hes taking it mule deer hunting in saskachewan canada in a couple weeks. I told him if anything went wrong or he didnt like it to give it back and ill keep it. Thanks for all the kind words guys its a serious pain in the a to build a stock like this.
