Deja Vu
Not currently able to remedy the situation being that I'm in Washington and the rifle is in Kentucky but I was wondering if anyone might have some insight as to my issue. I put together this AR mainly from BCM, except for the lower. The lower was purchased complete from a local gun shop. There was a mix up with the buffer tube initially. It was supposed to be milspec but wasn't so I had to change that and put an H2 buffer in it. Also, i changed the pistol grip to a magpul moe or something like that. I know that stuff doesn't really matter but I'm trying to paint the whole picture. Here's my issue, I believe the lower to be of somewhat low quality, either in manufacture or assembly. I believe the trigger to be the culprit. Sometimes the trigger wont reset properly and it will either kick off two rounds with one pull or after one pull, it wont reset at all and ill have to charge the weapon again, ejecting a good round.

I hope that was descriptive enough. What I'm asking is, if I remove the current trigger parts and install something of a bit higher quality along the lines of a Geissele, would it remedy my problem?

On second thought, could it be a combination of a shitty trigger, heavy buffer, and m16 auto bolt carrier group? Or, should I just say fuck this lower and get one from spikes or something similar?

for shits and giggles (not the most recent configuration but you get the idea)

Re: ar15 problem

Your problem probably in the trigger group or somebody installed the trigger spring backward. I would take a closer look at the trigger assembly. You can youtube on the installation of the AR's trigger.

Re: ar15 problem

+1 on the trigger group. You'll have to go over it closely. One of the complete trigger group units you can now buy from Wilsons or others will fix this right up

Some people pay extra for that feature

Sounds like your disconnector is not holding the hammer back, the hammer will follow the bolt and cook off anoter round or fail to have enough inertia to ignite the primer. with the lower removed, try pulling the trigger fully while cocking the hammer, the disconnector should engage the rear of the hammer and hold it rearward, once the trigger is released the hammer should not fall but reset against the trigger sear.

Bottom line, there is no adjustment on the factory trigger, tollerence stacking of mixed components can cause issues or if they were installed incorrectly. A quality adjustable trigger may be what you need.

Re: ar15 problem

Well, that's good to know. I'll be able to fix it in about a month. Thank you guys for the info. At which time, I'll also be able to pick up my new LaRue 7.62, so that will be exciting.

Re: ar15 problem

It's sad that I can disassemble the M2 down further than an AR15/M4.

I'll have to take a hard look at the trigger assembly.

+1. Pretty common mistake. The disconnector spring goes in both ways, but is only correct one way. Big side in.
