Guys,
New to the forum and relatively new to this part of the country. Could yall help me out with some good spots? Thinking about deer season on some public or free ranches. Could do free hog or coyote anywhere.

THX guys!

Many of the Wildlife Management Areas in Oklahoma allow archery hunting for deer and rimfire hunting for feral hogs and varmints. Some allow rifle hunting.

If Oklahoma intrest you check out www.wildlifedepartment.com. It will have a list of WMAs and the game they contain along with season dates and legal means of harvest.

free hunting... in texas... thats the funniest thing ive heard in a while!!! i went thru the same thing when i moved out here about 7 years ago. in all honesty close to the metromess anything good is bow only and no one will talk about it. check out tpwd website under public hunting and army core website for the dallas and tulsa offices. you wont find any ranchers that will let you hunt for free within in a couple hours of dfw. most people wont talk about any public areas on an open forum except for the well know areas that area a zoo on the weekends. after sayin all that there are some real nice deer and plenty of hogs killed on public land here in tx every year. you just gotta put in the work.

Re: Good free hunting in OK and North TX???

I hate to see comments about there being no free hunting anymore. The progression of the leased ground is starting to make its way into the Midwest and is taking the fun right out of hunting.

Re: Good free hunting in OK and North TX???

Yeah, I agree, its disappointing to see that most all the land is several thousand a day to hunt.

I did start looking at the public lands in OK, good to know thats a logical idea. So if I take my brother in law who was born and raised in OK is it all right? LOL

Re: Good free hunting in OK and North TX???

I hunt 3 properties for free in Texas. I took time to get to know people. I help with cattle on one property. Another is a Church member who wants me to check on his 91 year old dad. The last is a farmer who is friends with the 91 year old farmer.

I'm also on a paid 7000 acre trophy managed property.

So if you shake hands put in the foot work you can still find some free hunting.

I guess it's a good thing you don't hunt public land then, huh?
