Roll-over prone friendly comp/break?

A bunch of matches I shot in this summer included stages that required you to shoot in this position (specified you had to). The SJC Titan I originally had on is a great break... except in this position. It literally fires debris at your face, which makes sense due to the way the gills are designed. I switched to a PWS TTO, which is much better in that position, but not even close to the Titan in normal shooting positions.

Blasting debris isn't so bad, so long as its not AT my face. Thinking breaks that vent straight out the side might not be so bad (Miculek, Cooley, F2...). Wondering if there is something in beween the Titan and the TTO, and rather than buy half a dozen breaks, I thought I'd ask for people's experiences.

I've got a Battlecomp on the way, but I'm doubting it will be any more effective than the TTO... And before someone mentions it: surpressors are not an option.

Is the most effective brake I have ever used. You just have to get past its beauty...

Been looking it actually... wonder how it vents.

Thinking that part of the issue with the Titan is that the vents are small and focused, it literally digs a hole in the ground on its side. Thinking that larger baffle opening might not be as bad.

Re: Urban prone friendly comp/break?

The Primary Weapons PRC is for exactly that — a precision rifle. It's excellent at reducing recoil and has very little ground signature.

Re: Roll-over prone friendly comp/break?

I think we're having a misunderstanding about the shooting position I'm talking about. I mean urban/roll-over/modified prone:

Re: Roll-over prone friendly comp/break?

Try a SF, shot mine many a times rolled over on my side and never had a problem

Re: Roll-over prone friendly comp/break?

i have the jp too, great when horizontal, but kicks up a bunch of stuff when vertical.

unless on a freshly swept piece of pavement, you will have a face full of debris.

Re: Roll-over prone friendly comp/break?

I guess the curvature of it would direct the gasses backwards...

Maybe the F2 or the Cooley.., will have to try the SF.

Re: Roll-over prone friendly comp/break?

the biggest thing about it is that it's dumping just about the whole blast at once to the left and right. it almost feels as if the rifle is moving forward, with the 2 curved baffles acting like a parachute capturing alot of the blast.

there's some, but not much back at the shooter blast.

is great for recoil, but leaves a huge signature either in the horizontal or vertical "side prone" position.

Sucks to be you...

Re: Roll-over prone friendly comp/break?

This is true, but it doesn't solve the problem...

Re: Roll-over prone friendly comp/break?

How well do they reduce recoil? Better than the TTO(FSC556)? The TTO is tolerable in that position...

Re: Roll-over prone friendly comp/break?

Doesn't that JP brake put you into "open" class? If I'm not mistaken, the brake/compensator cannot be longer than 3 inches or wider than 1 inch to remain in "tactical" class.

The Titan is FANTASTIC at taming muzzle rise and recoil, but noisy as hell and TERRIBLE for "sand blasting" the face in the described position. The only thing I can think of that wouldn't redirect a significant amount of debris towards the face is a compensator that directs everything forward as the Levang mentioned in a previous thread. There is also the Troy Claymore and the Black River Tactical compensator, but they won't be nearly as effective at taming muzzle rise as the Titan.

Re: Roll-over prone friendly comp/break?

These matches don't have classes, I can use anything.

Yeah, I love the Titan when it's in the horizontal position. I'm missing it when I try to fire rapidly...

Re: Roll-over prone friendly comp/break?

Anyone ever try the GoGun SuperComp? The advertisements look like cheeseball shister infomercials, but it might not be too bad in ROP due to the number and distribution of ports...

The 21st Century Gunfighter review gave the impression that the Ops. Inc. 12th model wasn't bad in this position either, and it performed really well in their full-auto test.

Re: Roll-over prone friendly comp/break?

JP Tactical Compensator

The large version is claimed to be as effective as the Eliminator, but in a smaller form factor.

I run one on my wife's rifle and it's very effective in getting her to burn up a ton of my ammo fast. It directs the blast to the side, but it's still going to kick shit up off the ground in rollover-prone.

Re: Roll-over prone friendly comp/break?

take a wrench with you to the match and before the side ways stage turn your brake 90 degrees, problem solved since a suppressor is not in the card or shoot without a break at all, AR's don't kick that much.

Re: Roll-over prone friendly comp/break?

I've read a lot about this new break and after speaking to a couple of people about it I recently ordered one. The design is very interesting and looking at it closely it may work for you purpose. Look closely in side of the brake I think the side blast may not be that bad. When I get mine and test it out I'll let you know how it works.

Re: Roll-over prone friendly comp/break?

Seekins is really coming out with a lot of nice stuff lately. I'll have to call and ask if he's done any shooting in ROP with it.

Yeah, they did that one in the 21st Century Gunfighter evaluation and found it to be quite unpleasant.

Re: Roll-over prone friendly comp/break?

ASI quiet linear compensator?

Won't be affective in normal positions but no dust in your face.
