Hey Guys,

I just placed an order for a Manners T4A stock w/ the badger chassis in OD Green. I'm going to have it painted with a 3 or 4 color GAP or Flectarn pattern as seen below:

What do you think of that build and what is another color that I can have the barrel and action Cerakoted in? I don't want to do a black as all of my other rifles are black. I looked around for some pictures but it seems that most people go with FDE or black.

FDE works great with both of the camo patterns you are considering.

I'm doing pretty much the same thing but with a T5A. I'm going with a Flectarn pattern using c-series Cerakote. I ordered FDE, OD green, Federal Brown, Bright White and Armour Black. I got the white so I can lighten any of the colors if needed. I haven't figured out what my base coat will be but my barred action is going to be OD Green or Tarjac Green(no Tarjac in c-series :() if it looks right. My bolt and scope rail are going to be Graphite Black. I'll also probably do my Seekins rings the same color as the barreled action. I have no plans to paint my scope and I haven't figured out what I am going to do with the BM on the mini-chassis.

is there a reason that you pick the air cure cerakote over another coating? Branden at custom gun coatings recommends their polane t. he said it holds up better than the air cures on stocks.

and just a warning w/ the t5a, you will need to move your cheek piece when you take the bolt out. i was in their shop today and that was the deciding factor for me. i would get pissed every time i had to take the bolt out.

Not necessarily for short action

Why in the world would you let such a small issue keep you from buying a great stock?

I have to change the dies in my press every time I want to load for a different caliber, but that's just one of those menial chores in life that I've learned to deal with.

That is amazing!

Whatever tan you use to paint the camo pattern on your stock is the color I would pick for your action

I read somewhere that Polane T is basically Duracoat.

Re: What Color for Action/Barrel & GAP Build Review

I went with the Cerakote because they make quality stuff and I didn't want to by gallon jugs of Polane T. The guys at NIC convinced me it was worth a shot. If it doesn't work out I will just redo it with something else.

The T5A is a excellent stock. I have a short action and the bolt comes out just fine if the cheek piece isn't too high. Regardless, I don't mind having to pull out an Allen wrench when I get to the range and when I leave so my shit fits in my 1750. Once I get a drag bag it will be even less then an issue. I also believe Terry Cross has come up with a small knurled knob to replace the Allen screw. I know I saw it in a thread somewhere but can't seem to find it now. I'll use one of those when I can find one. If that's the only thing you didn't like about the T5 I really don't get the issue. It also looks better, if looks matter, not having a big notch cut out of your cheek piece.
