I'm currently running a IOR 3.5-18X50 and love it, but I have a opportunity to get a terminator (12-52X56) and was just wondering does anyone have any time behind this perticular scope and their opinions of it.

I have been thinking about shooting some 600yd matches at Camp Robinson and I talked to the guy that runs the match and told him what I was shooting and he said most people shot much higher magnifications than X18 but I was welcome to come and shoot. So I was thing surely this is enough scope to shoot any compition I might find myself in. Anyhow, any input would be great and thanks in advance.

I find it hard to believe that 18x isn't enough for 600yds unless your shooting at eggs or something simular. We shoot at 6in plates at 600 and its no problem. Tactical steel targets are easy with your scope. Paper bulleye's, now you might want a higher power.
I have the IOR "Terminator" on my 338 Lapua and have few complaints about it. It is SFP but I like it because at 26x the reticle is MOA and at 14.5, I think, is MIL. Its got a lot of Elev. adjustment around 100 MOA. Glass is excellent.
Negative points are I don't like the parallex adjustment, not fine enough which is common on all their scopes. Plus being up in front turned out to be more of a hassle than I thought. The tube is 40mm making the rings strictly an IOR product. After breaking one, I wish someone would make a better replacement set of rings.
All in all I'm happy with it but if I had it to do over I would have gotten a Schmidt Bender.

600 yards needs more than 18x? Damn benchrester gayness

Haha, I actually have to agree with this. For anything besides long range benchrest, that 12-52x is going to be ridiculously restrictive. Eye relief will be picky. Parallax will be critical. You can't dial down that much if there's any mirage. FOV is like looking through a coffee straw. Image will be darker. Etc., etc. I personally think 3.5-18x is a fantastic magnification range for a long-range precision rifle. Your choice, though. Your enjoyment is all that matters in the end.

600yds one day and 1000 the next both shooting at X's on paper. So most people are shooting very high magnification. I've never done either, but if ya'll think I can compete with 18X I will go give it a shot.......Thanks for your input.

I have shot F class with an IOR 3-18 for overa year and was never wanting much more even at 1000 yds 1/2 MOA X ring. mirage was never a big issue and I d rather clarity over magnification.
Now a 12-52 wouldn't hurt either but is not absolutely necessary.

I agree with pinzmann on the parallax adjustment. Way course and not nearly as easy to adjust as a side parallax. Mine tracks great and the 100 minutes are nice for the really long shots.
