I have an iPad and iPhone and am wanting to get recommendations on good ballistic software available from the Apple store online specifically designed for long range shooting.

Any recommendations as to which software is good and which should be avoided?

Re: Recommendations on good ballistic software

I use Knights BulletFlight on a Ipod toutch. Its a little hard to find at the apple store, I believe I found it under bullet flight or ballistic program bit Knights came up with nothing. Its a good program, I went from using a Horus ATragMP program for 6 years to the Knights, I put it to the test in a match with little to no confidence in the program, data is spot on and its easy to use.

I just used Shooter at an ELR class, and it was spot on out to 2200 yards (right to the tenth of a mil.) I highly recommend it.

Every software should be tested and calibrated against KD targets before using in the field, fyi.

Shooter, especielly if you're not up on the tecky stuff like me.

I can bearly work a cell phone, but I got an Ipod (touch pad) and had no problems figuring out shooter. I can't imagine needed info the Shooter wont provide.

Only 10 bucks, will worth it.

Re: Recommendations on good ballistic software

I don't mean to derail your thread, but has anyone here used both Shooter and Ballistic AE? If so, which is better, in your opinion? These seem to both be very popular.

Re: Recommendations on good ballistic software

Another vote for Ballistic AE

I've also tried Shooter, Bullet Flight and iSnipe.

Re: Recommendations on good ballistic software

I have used both MD Ballistcs and Ballistic AE. The latter seems the most flexible and intuitive to use.

Re: Recommendations on good ballistic software

I'm stuck in a time warp and use an Axim with Exbal. Would really like to experience a Kestrel with Atrag, but find it out of my budget for the time being. It might also be more than I need for recreational shooting.

Alright, thanks. I'm looking to get an iPod Touch in the near future, partly to have a ballistic app. Time to embrace technology!

Shooter, Shooter, Ballistic AE, Shooter...

Re: Recommendations on good ballistic software

I run KAC Bulletflight myself and have been for a few years without any problems.

Re: Recommendations on good ballistic software

No one mentioned istrelok? Free app anyone and it works!

Re: Recommendations on good ballistic software

I purchased shooter, I think it was like 10 bucks. I just now got a kestrel with horus. I may compare the two just to see if there are any differences in the data output.

Re: Recommendations on good ballistic software

Shooter spits out good numbers for me with most cartridges. if you take the time to Set up the rifles and ammo carefully. The biggest drawback is when you are using the same load in multiple guns, you must set the ammo up again for each rifle. It needs a copy function.

It has a nice feature that lets either web or mobile version overwrite the other; just be careful to copy the right direction.
