Just received the above scope with MSR reticule 5-25x56. Paid £2100 second hand and it came with a Spuhr SP-4601 mount which by the way feels like great engineering. The scope has hardly been used but i want to zero every think before hand and just had some questions for some current PM2 users. Mount has 6 mils (20MOA) elevation, scope has 0-26 mils elevation. Rifle will be zero to 100 yards/meters.

Q1) Do i just count all the elevation clicks in order to centralize the reticule cross hair, do i need to do it for the windage turret as well? When finding the central point i believe i just need to release the grub screws and line them up with the zero position?
Q2) I will zero at 100 Yards but should i zero to 100 Metros as I'm working in mils?
Q3) As the scope is in mils should i stay clear of yards all together?

Any theory would be helpful to a newbie PM2 user.

Regards

Carl

Re: S & B PM2 setup routine HELP!

After counting the clicks on the elevation there seems to be one short of 27 mils even thought the scope goes up to 26?

I will use 13 as the central point and reposition the dial, hope this is correct?

Re: S & B PM2 setup routine HELP!

Hold the scope objective lens against a mirror and look through the eyepiece. Make sure you look straight through the scope, not at an angle, in order to minimize parallax. You will see two reticle images. Adjust the windage and elevation until the images are perfectly overlapped. This should be optical center. You may want to adjust the turret caps so they now read zero also. This will give you a good starting point.

When using mils, meters will give a more intuitive correlation than yards.

A mil is a mil, not matter if you are using yards or meters. A miliradian is 1/10 at 100 meters or 100 yds. No sense in getting yourself confused over meters and yards. Its not a linear measurement its an angular measurement

Re: S & B PM2 setup routine HELP!

I would zero the scope on the rifle by shooting it at 100, once zeroed loosen the turret and zero it. no need to make things more complicated than necessary.
cheers and congrats on owning a superb optic.

Re: S & B PM2 setup routine HELP!

I second, zero on your rifle.

Mechanical zero will be off if your mounts are off. But I assume you have a top rifle if you are popping this kit atop.

Work in metres it just makes things simple. Yes a mil is a tenth, at least a metre is 100cm....

If you are near Derbyshire pm me and I can help you out.
