I have an Accuracy International .308 with barrel threaded in the standard AI M18x1.5, I also bought my wife a GAP with a barrel threaded M18x1.5 to maintain uniformity for suppressor use. I ordered two AAC titan suppressors in M18x1.5. My class 3 dealer told me the suppressors were in so I took one of the rifle down to try on the suppressor before filing the form 4's. Both AAC suppressor are stamped that they are threaded M18x1.5. Neither suppressor fits. Each only screw on about 3/4 of a turn. So we busted out the metric calipers and screw pitch gauges and verified that the rifle is indeed threaded M18.1.5 and the thread protector for that threads on my AI .308 and my AI.338 fit just fine. Any Ideas on why the ACC cans that seem to be threaded correctly in M18x1.5 will not thread onto my barrels that are threaded in M18x1.5?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Might the cans mistakenly be M18x1? Either way a call is in to AAC. Or just get the muzzle rethreaded

Re: Need Help. Accuracy International with AAC Titan.

I just went thru this with my aw and suppressors. Basically there are so many diffrent ring gauges its impossible to make sure they will both be the same. These are c3 threads so they are very precise. I bet that its the diffrence of. 010 yhread depth is why it wont thread on. The pitch and diameter are fine just the depth is why its stopping it from threading on. The only way is to get qd or tomb cans as they are mated from the manufacturer to fit. When its gunsmith to suppressor all bets are off if it will fit the first time.

I would call AAC as suggested and also get someone who can check the threads in the cans. I've had a lot of customers who have had issues with AAC and this doesn't sound surprising to me. In addition you didn't mention whether your rifles were factory threaded or done by a smith. While there are a number of different specs for threads they should be close if they are the correct pitch and diameter. Threading on 3/4 turn normally means its not a compatible thread. I would think that 18 X 1 is a better thread for the things with 18 X 1.5 being a bit coarse. Good luck

Re: Need Help. Accuracy International with AAC Titan.

Rich was correct. The threads on the GAP were not cut deep enough. Although the thread protector from the GAP fit the AI barrels, The cans did not thread onto the GAP rifle. So I hauled the two AI rifle down to the dealer and the cans threaded on just fine. So, the problem was with the GAP, not AAC. No worries. Once I get the form 4's back I'll send the rifle back to GAP with the cans and get the threads recut to fit.

Thanks for your help

Re: Need Help. Accuracy International with AAC Titan.

I went through a 1 year nightmare with an AAC suppressor that had thread issues. NEVER AGAIN.

Do this. Out of eight barrels I have had threaded, seven of them needed a little clean up. Buying a die is the way to go.
