Neighbor in armed standoff w/ police right now

Kind of crazy, seems like Colorado is getting extra bad karma this year with the Batman shooting, several big murders here in the last few weeks including one of a little girl by a 17 year old and now this guy in my apartment complex in an armed standoff with police threatening suicide! That's not counting the forest fires and mud slide in Colorado Springs!

They are evacuating the building that sits 50 yards from ours, because he is on the other side with several firearms. Supposedly he is ex-military and wearing body armor. Hope all comes out well for the guy threatening to end his life and especially for the EMS and innocents living nearby.

Hoping to not hear gunshots tonight!

(This is a very nice area we live in, if it can happen here it can happen anywhere!)

Anyone who is concerned enough with their life to wear body armor doesn't seem to fit the profile of one that would be wishing to commit suicide...

Obviously this is all preliminary info, but if he is ex-military he probably would have at least a fair idea of what SWAT would bring to the mix. Obviously there are 1001 things that could be going through the dude's head. Maybe it was more of a mental "suiting up for the last time" maybe he wanted to force a head shot, maybe he plans to try to take people with him or maybe he just wasn't thinking everything through entirely!

But ya, does seem a bit ironic.

Wonder if this is another overreaction to a PTSD diagnosis, seems to be pretty common problem for vets.

'and you're right there does seem to be a lot of weird stuff that happens here, especially lately.
