Re: Eliseo chassis?

The last 1 k match, Eliso shot a 593 with a godly number os Xs! Must be an ok system!

Re: Eliseo chassis?

I know John Pierce, and have spent lots of time in his shop and shooting his rifles. He has a good relationship with Mr. Eliseo, and John builds the Creedmore Rifles with the Eliseo stocks.

The first one I ever played with, I very much disliked it. I could not get comfortable behind it, compared to the AICS chassis that I have been using. Last fall I took one of John's rifles to ASC with the Eliseo RTM chassis, and during sighting in my scope, I thought I was going to be in for a long weekend.

Half way through day 1, i was not minding it to much, and by day 2, I was in love. I really think it's love right away, or use it and develop a feel for it. Once I started to ignore the AICS muscle memory issues and deal with the rifle in hand, I developed a great appreciation for it.

Gary Eliseo makes a great stock, and I think if you have spent any significant time behind a gas gun you will appreciate it more, and faster than a lot of time, solely, behind a bolt gun.

I say if you have an interest in trying one do it, if you don't like it at first, my experiance suggests it will grow on you!

Re: Eliseo chassis?

Just get a piece of Mole skin for the cheek piece, as metal on the face, especially if you have facial hair, is horrible. In the cold its miserable. But a piece of mole skin or lammy suede for the cheek piece IS the difference.

Re: Eliseo chassis?

I had one and I loved it however I could not shoot it at all (it was me not the rifle). The quality is excellent I felt like it was a super strong chassis. It's a shame as I really liked it but could not shoot it worth a crap.

Re: Eliseo chassis?

The tubegun chassis has many benefits:
1. stiffens the action
2. No bedding required
3. Completely adjustable with multiple butt-stock options.
4. About the cheapest/fastest way to build a top-flight rifle vs traditional stocks.
5. Great for multiple disciplines: can accessorize and change the weight as needed.

Only complaint I see is some folks think it's ugly.....just like an M-16 is ugly. But if you like look of an M-16, then the Eliseo is pretty. :)

I originally got a MAK chassis and absolutely love it. But, Gary provides far better support for his product and is constantly coming out with improvements. It's a lego bolt rifle and you can't go wrong with it.

Re: Eliseo chassis?

FYI...

I shot a 3X600 F-Class match with mine this summer. Rifle is chambered in 308Win. The butt plate caused one heck of a blood bruise on my shoulder. I shot with only a tee shirt on, didn't feel a thing. Wife saw my shoulder when I took my shirt off, asked WTF happened to you?

I machined a new butt plate to replace the original, glued a pad on it made out of a flip flop. Life is good!

LOL...most folks using his buttplate are wearing shooting coats. If not,you should be able to fit a recoil pad of your choice. I prefer the low-profile limb-saver which is a grind to fit.

Re: Eliseo chassis?

You might be surprised how well the flip flop pad works...

Has the same feel as a Decelerator pad. Sand to fit, looks good. It's too dang hot around here to wear a shooting jacket during the summer. I feel for the sling shooters... well, not realy.

Another thing, if you use the bag rider attachment it needs to be pinned in place with a roll pin. It will shoot loose.

More fun when you are wearing a hoodie under your shooting jacket to keep your neighbor's hot brass from going down your neck.
Ruins your concentration.

Neck hell...

A few matches ago I was on the right side of someone shooting an AR-10. I shoult have tucked my shirt into my jeans. Hot brass found it's way underneath my shirt above the belt line.

Dang that stuff comes out hot!!!!

I shot this one in 2009 at 1k and it was a laser. Chamber in .270 SAUM (I think), it was really flat shooting and almost no wind issues.

The setup was very comfortable, especially for someone use to shooting gas guns. I haven't looked into them since that shoot, so thanks for the reminder.

Re: Eliseo chassis?

Steve,

I have a take off stock from a 10/22 that will be much better than the Eliseo that you are looking at. Im sure that the inletting will be no big deal.

Will trade you even.

Hope all is well on that side of the state line!
