Pretty soon I am going to exhaust my supply of 6mm ball, and I am on the hunt for a new load, that will be the one and only load that I run.

Rifle is a 243win, that serves as the paper puncher out to 600 yards, but also clears the woodchucks and will be used to hunt deer and hogs.

My first choice was sierra 85 grain gamekings, since my barrel likes them, but I will rebarrel within the year and I am pretty much open to any options.

You are already shooting what I was going to suggest.
That 85g sgkhp does the trick very good.
My other to 600 yard .243 load is with a Nosler 95g Hunting BT.
It is great for Antelope/Deer/hogs, not sure if Id waste them on groundhogs though.
Cost more (over priced for 50!) IMO.

I like the 85s, wish I could buy them in bulk.

Re: 6mm <600 yard "do all" ball?

For the times when I know I will need a heavier constructed bullet, I prefer the Barnes 85 grain TSX, or Speer grand slams. But those times I know I will be switching and I don't mind moving the turrets.

But currently, I am running 90 grain FMJs for plinking at 11 cents each. This is what my zero is set for, but when I see a woodchuck, I grab 55 grain blitzkings. The only problem is they are almost 2 MOA to the right compared to the 90s. So my thinking was when all my ball is shot up, to switch to something that will handle all of my daily needs (grab the rifle and slam that woodchuck headed to the garden, or go out and plink)

If you are gonna rebarrel, go to a 1 in 8 or 7.5 and shoot the 105 Amax or VLD hunting bullet.

Deadly on coyotes, deer, antelope...

Not to mention extremely accurate !

X2 I run the 105 VLD Hybrid in a 22" .243 1:7.5 twist and its a very accurate,flat and wind bucking load.
