I'm trying to work up a load for my 300 win mag using 208 grain A-max, H-1000, nosler brass, remington magnum large rifle primers. The coal is 3.598" = about 0.02" off the lands. Shooting it out of a remington 700 w/ the 5R 24" barrel and a TBAC suppressor. Right now I'm using 77.5 grains of H1000 but it's not compressed due to long coal. I'm getting moa accuracy w/ this set up to 300 Yards (haven't tried any further) but only about 2600fps. My big question is, as a rule w/ this powder and bullet combo does the maximum load usually have some compression? Like a load density of 105%? I've reloaded for years but I've never tried to work up a maximum load. With 77.5 grains the primers aren't at all flattened. Of course any increases I make will be 0.1 to 0.2 grains at a time but I'm wondering how much further I have to go.
