It is highly advised to get professional gunsmith help when cutting down P mags to 10 rounders!

Nice Jon... lol

Groundbreaking progress! Now when does the facility start running full-time, and what steps have you taken to prevent 'unionizing'?

Benefit package is such that there is no gain to Unionizing or having 3rd party talks.Union representation would certainly result in a reduction in the package, with current offerings.

Let me know if you need a strike breaker...my 16 month old is a little management friendly bad ass.

Re: 10 round 308 p mag HELP.

Right now she works for rimfire and 223 rounds mixed in with ice cream and Hershey bars! The other 2 held on to similar contracts until nearly 12. That's when contract negotians get tough.

I did one last night. Just simply cut it using the bottom of the 1st rib edge as a guide with a hacksaw, dremel, or even a hand coping saw will work. Sand out the edges a bit. Cut the spring in half and remove the bottom plate altogether as it interferes with the rivets. Then insert the spring and follower. Last slide the bottom cover over and drill 1/8" holes for rivets and rivet it in place.

I just eyeballed 1/2 way myself John. I figured 1/2 the mag equals 1/2 the spring lol...

Re: 10 round 308 p mag HELP.

Anybody ever do the same thing and turn a 30 rd pmag into a 15?

I don't see why you couldn't provided it's not windowed. The construction is in essence the same.

Understood. Since I have to have the mags delivered to an out of state friend, then impose upon him to use his shop and put up with me while I make the modifications, I want to avoid the trial and error.

I am looking for the trim specs.

You would just want to cut it on the bottom edge of a rib. I prefer to leave the rib as the attachment area since it leaves more material to fasten with. It's super easy though man. You just need to decide in advance if you want to rivet, pin, or bolt as stated above so you have the right parts.

Re: 10 round 308 p mag HELP.

We used to cut down M14 mags to 10 or 12 rounders all the time before mags of that size were commonly available. We did it so you could keep the full spring in it, or cut the spring and raise the capacity by a couple of rounds. Just took a hacksaw, file, and some pliers to bend the tabs over.

But I realize the OP asked about plastic mags. Modification isn't difficult if you are reasonably creative, and willing to take a few minutes.
