Hey guys, have any of you guys had trouble putting in the primer on hornady brass.the brass we were trying to reload was the one we had just shoot the week before. It was the Zombie Max. We have had the same problem with other hornady brass.

Re: reloading with hornady brass

My hornady brass has a mild primer crimp. The hornady primer crimp reamer does a great job. (Much better than the lyman I was using previously) I have also been using the RCBS primer pocket swager combo 2.

Re: reloading with hornady brass

Yeah I found out the hard way it was crimped but after a long night with a pocket uniformer and another firing the tendonicitis in the elbow has now subsided and the primers are seating quite nicely.

It is seeming to make some really nice handloads for my 308 as well now.

Re: reloading with hornady brass

I've got lots of the Hornady Match brass. I bought hundreds of once fired from a guy for 20 cents apiece, shot from bolt gun. It's all prepped now and ready to prime and load. I guess, after reading this thread, I better check the pockets and maybe run though the reamer tool, hundreds of them, Doh!!

The guy was supposed to send me 500 more of same already but he lives in New York, I hope he is ok.

Re: reloading with hornady brass

were all of these due to Crimped Primer pockets? Or were any of these off their match ammo or premium virgin brass. I ask because I just bought 100pc 6.5Creedmore virgin brass and was wondering how much prep it was gonna need?
