Definitely call Ed. You can't go wrong. IF you're near Louisa, VA, that is. If not, it's worth the trip and the cost.

Search the posts on MDshooters.com for other reviews of his courses.

Re: WHAT SCHOOL SHOULD I GO TO?????

Finish your profile and then we can maybe recommend one in your area.

There are several good schools around the country.

Re: WHAT SCHOOL SHOULD I GO TO?????

IMO go to Rifles Only. Take PR 1&2. Learn from some of the best instructors. Jacob and his people are some of the best. Just my +2

So you have an unlimited amount of money to spend? EXCELLENT

As for letterhead, it means on whose authorization are you going to sniper school. Since you aren't Military, Law Enforcement, or Federal alphabet soup; certain courses are either a) not going to take your money or b) will charge you a higher price

Not every precision shooting school is interested in or intended for teaching rentacops/private contractors/pure civilians.

Hey, hey, hey. Let's not be mean. Because remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

Re: WHAT SCHOOL SHOULD I GO TO?????

I went through OPTAC and Stuart Meyers is a excellent instructor, but unless your LE I don't think he will take you? I have done two of his courses and it has been all LE.

Re: WHAT SCHOOL SHOULD I GO TO?????

Thanks sulcop96, yes I am LE. My Department was suppose to take care of the funds but read a negative article online about Mr. Meyers, not saying it is true at all but I will be paying for the class myself so I was looking for the input from prior students of his courses.

Thanks

May I suggest not using all caps? Makes it easier to read.

Perhaps this is why he asked for a civ school in the op? o_O

Re: WHAT SCHOOL SHOULD I GO TO?????

How about taking the online course offered by Frank via Snipershide?

Re: WHAT SCHOOL SHOULD I GO TO?????

No matter what school you go to you should get something out of it. The online training with Jacob and Frank is a great place to start as it will give you a good foundation of the fundamentals. There are actually several instructors from several schools that are on the online training...lol. But where ever you decide to go you will learn something.

Re: WHAT SCHOOL SHOULD I GO TO?????

You wanna learn to shoot better? Go do NM shoots in your area. Open to civilians and we used to make SDM's do it before we taught them anything else, so that would be a good start and it would save you money too. It is also a lot of fun.

You can learn camo by, no shit, wearing different kinds and reading books on it and then going into the woods and try to get close up photos of wildlife. When you can sneak up on them or sneak away undetected, you can sneak up on 99.9% of humans.

I'd be leary of a civilian sniper school. I'm sure there are some good ones, I don't know, but how would you yourself know with nothing to compare it to?

I remember I was a batt. Ratelo for a while, this was around '02 or so. The CO wanted the Stryker driver and me to go to this school where they train bodyguards. Note the army does not do this shit, I have no idea where the CO got it from. Anyway, I got out of the job (I was not a very good ass kisser, that is what S1 said) and got a slot teaching at the SDM school, but the other guy, he had to go. I say "had to" because I wanted to go at first also, but the job I got I wanted more. Also, the training he got from "former SS presidential security team members" was shit. Totally useless. Most of the rest of the class were fat guys who wanted to be more high speed bouncers at their respective titty bars. I bet he felt like a tool there the whole time.

Also, who is risking his ass like that for some shitbag Col. (or goddamn, a stripper!)??? Come on. BTW, the shit they taught him didn't fly in Iraq, or anywhere else the army vacations for that matter. Try hanging onto the back of the exposed vehicle there after you take fire and break contact. And I'll say it again, who is risking his life for some Colonel, shielding him with his body as he runs across open areas with no cover? Who dreamed this shit up, I'll never know.

I bet MOST civilian sniper courses are a lot like this.

Re: WHAT SCHOOL SHOULD I GO TO?????

If running the keyboard on your computer is a difficult for you as you make it look, you might consider sticking with airsoft. I have a feeling this: [Height of target (yards) X 1,000 = Range (yards)/Height of target (mils)] is going to be a problem for you. It's called math, and it's generally not delved into until just after the first grade when you have already mastered the alphabet and can read. Sorry man but I couldn't resist.

In all honesty, you might consider taking "caps lock" off when you type a message, it appears that you are shouting and is considered rude on most forums. You may want to check your spelling as well. I'm not trying to publicly admonish you, but you really leave yourself open for trolls, and you may not get the intended response from folks that view your post. If possible, have a friend or significant other proof read your posts prior to submitting them. You don't want to run around this place looking and sounding like an idiot.

Pick any number of schools! They all have something to offer, and to say that one is better than others is an entirely subjective perspective. I'm partial to Rifles Only in South Texas. North Texas Rifle Precision is owned and operated by a friend of mine, and I suspect that it's a very good school as well (I just haven't taken a class there).

Good luck with your search,

Re: WHAT SCHOOL SHOULD I GO TO?????

On the off chance that you are asking a serious question, doubts arising from all caps and spelling, as well as use of words like "sniper" etc, you should IMO sign up for the on-line training here, watch all the videos, try to train a little with that info then go to a PR1 class at either Rifles Only or K&M Precision depending on where you are located.

Best of luck

Re: WHAT SCHOOL SHOULD I GO TO?????

'Kind of agree with 175G. I've been to both, as well as Vapor Trail. And, take the on-line training first.

Re: WHAT SCHOOL SHOULD I GO TO?????

if you're in NC or PA check out Vapor Trail Tactical

Low post count is fine, but: All caps; wants 'sniper' training; posts in the Advanced Marksmanship section; no location given, no budget and no time to spell check. Yet he wants a 'really good' sniper school.

Google 'Marksmanship training'. All the schools are there.

Re: WHAT SCHOOL SHOULD I GO TO?????

I've been reading quite a bit about the different schools. Getting some of their training videos, books and such.

If I was go get back in the game (and was younger), and serious about precision rifle shooting I'd go to Rifle's Only.

From what I've seen (without actually going to the course) I like Jacob Bynum's still.

Buy his DVD I think you'll be sold on RO.

Re: WHAT SCHOOL SHOULD I GO TO?????

To "OP", where are you located??
I have been to PMI's PLR I course at Whittington Center in NM near Raton. Great 3 day course and it is first of a 4 course series that builds on each previous one.
Also, Badlands Tactical in south central Oklahoma is one I researched and have heard great things about, but PMI course was less money for about the same amount of instruction and included food/lodging and was a 3.5hr drive for me vs 11-12hrs.

However, if you are brand spankin' new into all this, you may want to do some of the online and book "learnin'" that others above have recommended to see what long range, precision marksmanship is all about. Also, what sort of setup do you have or are you without one?
