I am thinking about buying a AXTS lower. But it has this ambi bolt catch/bolt release assembly that I am not sure if a bullet button could be installed. Would really like to be able to keep the ambi bolt catch/bolt release feature as well. Anyone has experience or knowledge of this? Oh yeah, I live in Kalifornia ... If you have figured it out yet.

It looks to me like the magazine release is no diffrent then any other magazine release. The bullet button only replaces the stock magaziene release button nothing else would be changed. Your best bet though is to just call AXTS and ask them.

Yes, I did ask AXTS. They said the bullet button is ok but I would lose the bolt catch with mag release feature.

The concept behind the bullet button is to create a situation where a magazine is only releasable from the rifle by use of a tool- in order to comply with current California law. This, I am sure you already know. The ambi feature on the rifle in question uses a lever to actuate the mag release from the left side.

In order to use the bullet button- and to comply with Californai law- you would need to replace that lever with a standard magazine release.

Otherwise you will still will be able to release the magazine without a tool- a violation of California law...
