Hi all, my dad is in his 60s and doesn't have the best eyesight anymore. He has 3 or 4 of the trijicon 2.5-10x scopes on his rifles. He prefers the models that have the single "dot" style reticles, I think he finds milling style reticles too busy.
He is looking now for a new scope with a bit more magnification and a step-up in clarity and lowlight performance from his trijicons for his 6.5 CM so he can do some long range shooting but something still suitable for deer hunting.
He is considering some Swarovski and Nightforce models.
MOA adjustments are what he is used to and he wants a simple, illuminated reticle. Magnification in the 3-20x range.
Please offer some suggestion! Thanks!

Re: Scope w/ great low light performance for old eyes.

Zeiss Victory HT -series is currently king on the light transmission hill.
See also Zeiss Victory 6-24x72 FL. Massive 72mm objective is not available on HT -series.

As far as I know, those are the very best at the moment.

Re: Scope w/ great low light performance for old eyes.

Any scope capable of a 7mm exit pupil.

Re: Scope w/ great low light performance for old eyes.

if it has a german name it is your best bet. germans are allowed to hunt after dark so their scope are made to work in low light
hope this helps.

In he's case it would actually more like 4-6mm, as aged eye's pupil does not open properly anymore.

What does 6mm on the front end do that coatings won't?
