Anyone ever use this scope? I have been waiting for a good deal on a PST 1-4 but saw this at half the price. I don't need the target turrets that are available on the pst. And the pst's illumination isn't that big of deal to me. Any other things that make the pst double the value? thanks

Re: Leupold Mark AR 1.5-4x20

***** Edited - I typed Mark 4 when I was talking about a Mark AR ******

I have one on a AR chambered in 7.62x39. I've used the combo to take many deer and hogs. The scope works great for my purpose (shots between 50 and 150 yards). I also just purchased a Vortex Viper PST and have it on an AR in 300 Blackout. I haven't used it nearly as much as the Mark AR but I have compared them side by side...

-Mark AR is a little more compact and isn't as apparent as I carry the rifle
-Vortex 30mm tube pulls in a touch more light. Not a big difference to me though
-I actually find the traditional Leupold reticle easier to get on
-I don't use the illuminated reticle on the Vortex as much as I thought I would
-The tactical elevation and windage on the Vortex are great/required for me on the 300 blackout switching between super and subsonic ammo.

Overall I really like the Mark AR. I think it's a good scope. If you don't need to dial in elevation/windage for range or super/sub sonic loads and are trying to be budget conscious then go with the Mark AR. If you think you may eventually need that or the illuminated reticle hold out for the Viper.

Hope that helps

After you original post I pulled out both rifles and compared scopes side-by-side. Conclusion... If I didn't require the tactical turrets for the sub/super rounds on the blackout I would be perfectly happy with the Mark AR on both rifles for my general hunting/plinking use. Vortex has an added "cool" factor, but IMHO not worth 2x if you aren't going to use all the features.
