Shooters,

In this video we have a "RR" series Remington 700 Short Action. The customer supplied it to us and was originally one of the ADL R700's purchased at one of the big wholesaler stores. In this video I mistakenly call it a "G" series.

As you can see in the video, once the action is dialed in we have roughly .0022" of action face runout with the centerline of the action dialed in .0001-0002" concentric to the bore.

This action seems to be a little on the rough side. Thanks for watching.

Mark

As Mark says in the original post, it's a R700 that was purchased from one of the "big box" stores in a configuration that is specific to that particular store. An example would be the "ADL Varmint" model currently available at Dick's Sporting Goods.

Re: Rem 700 Short Action face video

RR is just a new serial number series. I called and asked Remington after buying a new R700 Police rifle chambered in .223 recently.

Mark, when you get my rifle for tune up it'll have one of the new RR series actions. Hope they aren't to bad to work with....

Cheers - Todd

So if you put the factory barrel back on, how much would the headspace have changed?

Ya, I was sure you wouldn't put the factory barrel back on, just was asking as a reference as to how much that would have set it back.

Do you true up the threads too, or is the face of the action usually enough? (or is it all dependent on each rifle?)

Thanks for taking the time to explain!

Onyx,

We do install the factory barrels on the SPS packages. In this package we remove roughly 1" off the chamber end and redo everything. We thread it fit the thread specs of the action after its been trued.

When truing, we do everything while its dialed in, which is half the battle. When customers ask "can't you just check and see if its good enough". There is no sense to dial in and not fix things. So we true all surfaces while the action is dialed in.
