I want a semi auto 308. I have gone back and forth about building one or just ordering one from GAP. I know they use the POF upper/lower. My question is, can you send them customer supplied components to be assembled as a GAP 10. My reason for asking is I already have a Bartlein AR contoured 30 cal barrel on order and I was considering getting in on the group buy for the Mega upper/lower set. Could I send them these components and have them chamber and assemble the rifle? Financially, its easier for me to piece a rifle together over time as opposed to shelling out 3k+ all at once.

Re: GAP 10 question??

I understand that it may not be an official "GAP 10" but will they still chamber and assemble it? I know it won't hold the resale value that a gap 10 would hold, but I don't intend on selling it. I just want an accurate/reliable rifle.

Re: GAP 10 question??

Call Supa Kenny for a official answer. Remember to ask about the GAP1911 though.

Re: GAP 10 question??

+1 on the above. Get with Ken Lin for an answer from the horse's mouth. Only someone from GAP will be able to tell you exactly what they will and won't do in terms of a custom semi-auto build with customer-supplied parts.

Good luck!

P.S. - While GAP is certainly one of the premier outfits in the business, there are several other highly reputable gunsmiths/operations out there that will be more than able to build you an accurate semi-auto rifle from your supplied parts, including being able to use your Bartlein AR barrel blank and any number of different receivers from Mega, POF, DPMS, etc., etc.

Re: GAP 10 question??

APA is currently working on my Mega Monolithic 308AR. I sent them my parts and he's putting them together and test firing it. All in a 3-month turn around.

In regards to GAP, I spoke to Ken and he said, if I don't mind waiting 8+ months to have it built, they would build it. Again, that's just sending in the receiver set.

Re: GAP 10 question??

thanks green338, I am still going back and forth. The group price for the mega maten set is really good, but part of me wants to hold out for mega's new mono upper. I hope they are close to having a release date.
