I have just recently picked up this Sauer 200 TR and can not be more impressed with it. It has a 26" 16T 22lr barrel with Sauer sights and a 5 round mag (I need to pick up a few more). It also has a 308 26" 12T barrel and bolt and mag for it. Its the same action as the SSG 3000, and what an action it is! It is very tight and smooth as my AW. The trigger is every bit as good as my TRG and the stock feels the same as the TRG. This rifle in the rimfire form feels like a very high end center fire not your typical rimfire, if you know what I mean. I have not yet installed the 308 barrel b/c it only has 10 rounds through it and I have 2 other 308s as it is. I need to pick up a good scope for the rifle to see what it can really do. I got the factory test target with the rifle and it is around 1/4" @ 50m and the original owner sent 3 targets with it as well, they measure 0.100", 0.070", 0.060" all 5 round 50 yard groups from a bench with a 8-32x56 Nightforce and Eley 10x or RWS R-50. Well here is the rifle and what I did with it today with Eley Target (cheep crap). I am quite happy with it.

    Re: What a rifle!

Where and how did you dig that one up? Don't see them very often.

    Re: What a rifle!

Here on the Hide. A guy made mention he had one in a thread so I shot him a PM and gave him my email and the begging and pleading began! He was a great guy and I enjoied talking with him, wish I remember who he was...

    Re: What a rifle!

Looks like one hell of a shooter.

Any chance of a PM sharing approximate cost?

    Re: What a rifle!

That is a damn nice rifle. The stock kind of reminds me of some of the Annies. It is a great shooter for sure.

    Re: What a rifle!

<span style="color: #FF0000"> Well I threw a scope on it with the Sauer mount, it works very well with the Zeiss. The scope is a Zeiss Diavari 6-24X56 with the mildot. I have ran a few boxes of some inexpensive "quality" ammo ($7 a box). The first target is a mix of Wolf match extra, Wolf match target, & SK rifle match. Some of the targets were large because I was not cleaning between ammo changes just shoot it until it shoots well. All in all I am very happy with this rifle. It is almost identical to my TRG in all ways especially the bolt and trigger, & the stock is almost the same pretty cool. </span>

    Re: What a rifle!

Nice, fullsize .22 trainers are neat and the caliber conversion for yours is a plus. Reminds me of the 40X and 1922 M2, except being more scarce than those...

    Re: What a rifle!

hey! name of your rifle is actually sauer 200 str (Scandinavian Target Rifle)
we use it to our standard rifles to shoot competitions in Norway, sweden and denmark!

I think you will get much better accuracy if you get a barrel in 6.5 x55 skan I have shot for years with both and have always found that 6.5 x55 gives much better precision than .308! shot from bench my 200 str has collections of 8-10mm. with norma golden target!

Also be sure to check the trigger for brass shavings that the bolt can scrape off the sleeves and bring in the trigger mechanism!

    congratulations for great rifle

    Re: What a rifle!

That is a fine rifle you have there. While they may be popular in Norway, Sweden and Denmark, I've not seen one yet.

    Very nice.

    Re: What a rifle!

    200STR,
I think you will get more credibility when you figure out this is a rimfire! How can you be our "expert" on STR's with a mistake like that??

200STR was referring to the fact that this rifle is convertible and the OP has a barrel bolt, etc. for .308 with it. Apparently you can also get barrels for 6.5x55 skan for it. That's my take, fwiw.

yes this is correct! the conversion is fearly easy to! just remove the bracket that holds the magazine and loosen the 3 bolts that holds the barrel and take the barrel out and innstal the new barrel in .308 or 6,5x55 thigten the bolts with 8nm install the magazine release spring on the left side of the mechanism and put it all back in the stock! then put the new bolt in place and you are good to go!

    Re: What a rifle!

I would LOVE to get the 6.5x55 barrel just cant find one here. I am also tring my damndest to get a few extra 22lr mags. I have contacted Sauer here in the US and they are working on it for me. I would even like to have a 2nd 22lr barrel so I could thread it for a suppressor.

I may be wrong but I think the 200STR is a hardwood stock and the 200TR is the laminate that I have:

    http://www.sigsauer.de/englisch/sport/sig-sauer-200-tr-match.html

But hell its the same rifle. I also think its the same action, trigger, mag as the Sig SSG3000.

200str, if you have any ideas as to how I could get my hands on a 6.5 barrel, 22lr mags, ect for these fine rifles I would be very grateful. Also what is with the red barrels you guys have on the rifles over there? I do love this rifle!

    Re: What a rifle!

I think your best shoot is whit sauer! a barrel in .22 cost aroud 1000$ over here i dont know what it cost in usa!
a barrel from a ssg3000 will also fit if you can find one in 6,5x55 i dont know if they were prodused in that caliber!
last resort will be to contakt som dealers in norway and ask if they can ship mags to you. barrel i dont think they will ship beacause you ned al license to bye them!

the red barrel is a schultz & larsen barrel whit a 1:10 twist
we also have blue barrelsw from heym whit a 1:9 twist i belive, and now got barrels also from lothar walter even in 6mm br now

we goth the same stock mine is also laminated!

    Re: What a rifle!

you can also do some research on the sauer 205 rifel its out of production now but i think te barrel an mechanism is the same as the 200 but i'd do some research to confirm that!

    Re: What a rifle!

The W3C (Gen 3) is available as of July 2012 in fixed and folding stock versions for the following rifles: • Tikka T3 (non-magnum length calibers).
    • Remington 700 short and long action.
    • Badger M2008 short action (uses AICS or AI AW magazines).
    • Sako M995 (AICS CIP length magazines).
