Narrowing down my gun collection, getting rid of shit I don't use. I have sold a rifle and a US Optics scope and think I have another USO sold. While I have some excess cash on hand I want to get my first suppressor started. Here is what I want. I plan to build two rifles both in Mcree chassis, with Scotts remage barrel system, one in 308 and one in 300 win mag. I would like one suppressor to cover both of these. If it is possible to buy a 338 can and it work reasonably well on a 308 /300win class rifle that would be great incase I want to get another 338 lapua. I had one and really liked it, but with the new 225, 230 grain 30 cal bullets available you can just about stoke a 300 ultra to 338 lapua level without the 338 price tag on the components.
So, here it is 30 cal. rated up to 300 win mag at least. It will be used on precision bolt rifles, possibly a semi auto but still in a precision application, so rate of fire should not be an issue. Accuracy is number one, far more important than one can being slightly quieter than another. What would your recommendations be. Looking at the Liberty Victory, and the TBAC 30P-1 What others should I consider. Thanks guys

Re: First suppressor/ Please answer stupid questions

Which of the two do you plan to shoot the most? .308 or .300WM?

Re: First suppressor/ Please answer stupid questions

Large portion of shooting will be 308 but I would want to be able to use the 300 all I want to. Probably 70%/30% 308 to 300. I do love the 300 though and I have to admit that if I had a can I would probably shoot the 300 quite a bit

Re: First suppressor/ Please answer stupid questions

Well the 30P-1 is .300WM rated as it appears you are aware and handles the .300WM just fine but I would say that if you have the money and are leaning towards shooting the .300WM more with the possibility of getting another 338, then I would step up to the 338P-1. The 338P-1 does a little better job handling the amount of gas that the larger magnums put out. I run a 30P-1 on a .300WM and it does a great job so don't think that the suppression level is sub par with a 30P-1 on a .300WM. Either way I would go with a TBAC as I have two of them and what can I say, I'm a fan boy

Re: First suppressor/ Please answer stupid questions

If you will shoot a substantial amount with .338LM, or .30 caliber magnums with more than 80 grains of powder, the 338BA is the best bet as far as our cans go.

Re: First suppressor/ Please answer stupid questions

Ahh that is what I was wondering if it mattered what 300 win mag load you were running. I like the 208 amax and 210 berger and I assume if I get the 338 P1 it would be fine for a 300 ultra as well. I will be running the 300 win mag hot. Ho wis the accuracy with the BA versions versus the P1 versions

Re: First suppressor/ Please answer stupid questions

and you can shoot the 308 through the 338 ba I assume probably just not quite as effective but it will still work. So basically this will handle anything from a 260/308 through a 338 lapua. It sounds like this is what I will need. Better to buy once cry once I guess.
