Anyone with experience in this area? If one wanted to play around with some ideas what or is there an ideal or prefered material to make sabots with? .30 cal rifles 2500-3100fps neighborhood.

Re: Sabot Material

Thanks for the link! I'm hoping to find material in round stock to fab my own but this gets me started. Appreciate it.

Re: Sabot Material

The link proved to be unproductive. Anyone else with any knowledge of what the specific materials used are?
Thanks

Re: Sabot Material

Link opened for me. Does sound interesting always wanted to play around with them.

Re: Sabot Material

Sorry, I didn't mean it wouldn't open. They are a vendor and could not supply me with the info or product I was looking for.
Friendly folks, just didn't have it.

Re: Sabot Material

Thanks for that link I have an inquiry in to them.<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: Deadshot2</div><div class="ubbcode-body">If you want to make your own

Considering the cost of doing so why not just buy the ones listed on the linked site? </div></div>
My application is a little different than a typical sabot and their product dimensions won't work. This is a one off deal that I'm just playing with

Re: Sabot Material

Update: the folks in the original link were kind enough to forward my inquiry to their supplier. So anyone needing sabots they are nice people to deal with. The material used by Advanced Plastics is called Xenoy which needs to be injection molded. Their recommendation for my purposes was to use Delrin or other Acetal plastics. Just an FYI in case anyone else is curious. Thanks again for the responses.
