Does anyone have any REAL info on 260 barrel life

I know, I know it depends on load etc..... I've heard everything from 1500-5000rnds. So if you have actually burned out a barrel (and logged the round count) post up how many rounds until you noticed the accuracy falling off enough that it was a problem.

I've got 600 though mine so far and I couldn't be happier. I'm just trying to get some sort of idea what to expect so I can order my next barrel ahead of time. Thanks

My suggestion is to buy another barrel around 2000 rounds, I have 3700 thru mine and its still a bughole rifle, but now it takes 44.7 of h4350 to get to 2800, when new 41.5, my barrel started life with an extremely short lead, I shot 1500 139Scenars at the lands, then another 1500 140amax .015 off, now I'm shooting 142smk loaded at 2.87ish to fit in a AICS mag, I also notice the barrel won't shoot good after 80 rounds, it must be cleaned.

I just noticed your tube is Melonited, I bet you get at least double what a non Melonited barrel gets.

My course gun I replaced at 2500. Shooting molly and not pushing the loads as much as I did on first barrel hoping to get more. Using N150 with 123's and 4831SC with 142's. Friend of mine shoots H1000 in his and his barrel is still going strong at close to 3000.

Yeah, time will tell on the meloniting. I was just getting concerned because I read some posts saying 2000 rounds and thought "shit, I need to order a new barrel soon". I appreciate your help what you put makes a lot of sense. Thanks for taking the time.

Also what we're your thoughts on the 140 AMAX vs the 142SMK? I'm trying to make the same decision myself right now.

140amax shoots just as well and cost 10 bucks per 100, I really like the Scenars as I think they did a tad better at distance over the Amax, I'm gonna get a Hoover Pointing die after Christmas and point the 142s, if my barrel is still holding together I bet they will fly the best at distance. With the Melonited barrel how much has your throat grown since new, and how many rounds of accurate fire between cleanings, any problems with accuracy, did It come from Surgeon Monited, you really got me intrigued.

A shooter I know just sent his GAP260 back for a new barrel, he had a round count of about 4000. Don't know his load tho.
