i currently carry a g23 everyday and have been for 4 years. my question is if any of you bigger guys(im 6ft2 225)carry one of these? i want to either get that or the compact to image my 23.
P.S. i need a 45 for a future osprey45 that is waiting

Re: glock 21

I've got a 21SF, it's my nightstand gun. I am smaller than you - 6', 210, but I would not dream of carrying it. It's a big, bulky gun.

I suggest looking at the HK 45C. I have one of those, and would carry it in a heartbeat. You can even get the 45CT "Tactical" model that comes with an extended, threaded barrel.

Re: glock 21

I carry my G21/G20 in an Alessi shoulder rig sometimes during the cold months when I'll be wearing a coat.

For OWB or IWB, it's a big, thick beast, and there are a lot of other options.

Honestly, I like my G30 better than my 21. It handles beautifully, and its form factor is better. Use G21 magazines for backup.

Re: glock 21

I'm 6'4" 235lbs and the G21 is BIG. I love the gun for camping and range work, but it is not a CCW. Like Chris Rock says "I can drive a car with my feet, but that doesn't mean it's meant to be done". I had the G30 and it's just as thick, just shorter, still not ideal.

If you really want a .45 for CCW, look at the new XDS or a Glock 36. A single stack is about the only way a .45 is concealable w/o going overboard with the dress code. There are people that do it everyday, so don't let me sway you. I just think there are better options in a belt-side carry (1911) or single stack striker fire or DA.

I fully endorse getting a G21 as they are fantastic guns, I just wouldn't CCW it.

Just my .02

Re: glock 21

Thank you gents. All though i want to carry it i mainly want a 45 for suppressed nightstand gun. The only reason i say glock is because thats what i am comfortable with. After seeing someone mention hk45c i might have to look at that if it has the threaded barrel. Does anyone have one with a osprey on it? how do the run suppressed? is it super heavy? (main reason i dont like 1911s)

Re: glock 21

Lookup the specs on HKs site and compare with Glocks specs. M&P makes nice guns too (some with threaded). Also the Sig 220 is a great gun. Most anything with a polymer or aluminum (or scandium) will be less than an all steel 1911. Tons of great choices in the .45 arena.

Decide on the main purpose of the gun, and buy on that note. Secondary function I don't usually consider. Then again, I'm not a compromise kind of guy. Get the right tool for the right job.

I've got too many guns, said no one ever.

Re: glock 21

Get a 30 if you ever think you might carry it, my brother puts a HEMS2 on his and it shoots great.

Re: glock 21

Here's a comparison of the HK 45C to the Glcok 21SF for you. I was suprised to see there was not more of a difference placing them side by side, as the 21 sure feels a lot bigger in the hand then the 45C does.

Re: glock 21

I guess I am the odd man out here. I am 6'0 160 and carry a G21. I have no complaints at all carrying IWB or even OWB with a jacket this time of year. Not trying to be macho big gun guy. It just works for me. YMMV.. I say try one on yourself and decide from there.

Re: glock 21

I am 6'2" 230lbs and the glack 20 is just too big to conceal comfortably even in winter. My daily carry is a glock 23 and it just disappear after a few minutes in the holster.
I do carry the 20 in a hip holster for open carry though
cheers.

Re: glock 21

Turbo54- My 20 unfortunately doesn't get much attention as of lately. That being said, when it does, there is no hesitation...

Just out of curiosity, those of you who choose not to tote the 20/21's, what holster/belt setup are you running? OP, I don't mean to hijack. I think the requested information may be useful to others.

Re: glock 21

thank you for the picture i think i am going to have to grab a g21 and have cca take off the fingergrooves and maybe some nightsights. One question how do u guys carry a suppressed pistol? i just imagine you would take of the suppressor until you ready to fire or just carry it in your hand.

Re: glock 21

Im confused here

You currently carry a G23 but you "need" to get a 45 as a host for a suppressor you are waiting on but you want the new 45 to be the size of your G23 so you can carry it as well??

are you planning to carry the 45 with the can on it??

Personaly id leave well enough alone , continue to carry your 23 , get a fullsize 45 of your choice to host the new can.

im 6'2" and currently 280lbs , i somtimes carry my 21 in a SOB holster during the colder months when i wear a little heavier clothes but mostly i carry a G23 also , its way easier to hide being that the grip is a little shorter and way thinner

Re: glock 21

no i like my 23 and will continue to carry it but when i am at my cabin i would like to carry the 21 and everyonce in a while carry the 21 in town.

Re: glock 21

I carried an all steel 1911 for 12 years at work. Honestly...I am not finding the Glock 21 that hard. I actually carry it appendix under a baggy shirt. Weighs the same as a 1911 and I have 14 rounds of 45.

If I had a big beer-gut, it might be a different story so your experience might differ. Now is the G19 "BETTER". Hell yeah. But sometimes I just miss 45's even though they don't stop any better.

Re: glock 21

I have been carrying my G20L in the winter months. I live in a rural area where guns are very accepted, but in the summer I wouldn't be very afraid of carrying a G21 under a tshirt.

I carried a USP9 full size for quite a while and didn't have much trouble. The G21 can't be much bigger if any. I sold the USP or I would do a side by side comparison.

I prefer lots a cant and right behind the hip carrying position in a comptac MTAC.

Don't be afraid of the big gun for going out in public. If you are the refrigerator repair man I would probably try to be a bit more discreet.

Sorry, I didn't see this post.

If this is the case then by all means for for it. But if you really want to do yourself a favor, get the 10mm

Re: glock 21

I have had an carried G21 an 30, love both great guns. Accuracy edge to the 21 in my opinion. I carried mine in a summer comfort galco or a fist kydex. Both fairly comfortable, however daily is a G19.
.
Up to you depending on what your used to with comfort, usually have a little bit of room at waist to accomodate.

Re: glock 21

I also have carried a G20 IWB for years, currently carrying my favorite a G35 tricked out duty weapon daily IWB,My build is 6'0 210lbs athletic.I'm a fan of full size carry all the time but it's whatever works for each other.

Re: glock 21

I've been carrying a G21sf IWB for four years now and I don't see myself carrying anything else. Pick the right wardrobe and holster, don't slouch when you walk, and you'll be fine. and It's an amazing weapon and I trust my life with it.

(6'2" 180 crossbreed)

Re: glock 21

5'8" and 180 lbs, a G21 SF is the only gun I have ever carried. Fits nicely in the small of my back summer or winter without any printing whatsoever unless I bend at a 90 degree angle.
