think these will end up above the loading bench

Here is a picture . Not pictured on top it says “disposal of fired cases shall be as prescribed by army regulations”

WOW-- Pleasant surprise. No wounder one of my friends was so happy to get 10 boxes from me. I had told him I had some but it was not for sale. He is in to reloading big time so I just gave them to him. He helps me out when ever I need help , all is cool. I have 105 boxes left, big smile.

Yeah depending on the year its good. I started shooting M118 in the 70s. Used it in sniper school and taught sniper school using it. And while I shot for the Guard.

But it started going south in the mid to late 80s, about the time they started putting it in Brown Boxes and calling it Special Ball. M852 replaced it as match ammo.

The thing about M118, it shot better in 4 grove barrels then it did in 6 grove. When I was running the AK NG Marksmanship unit we got military Match 4 grove barrels and commerical Match 6 grove barrels (Barnet Barrels).

The Barnet barrels shot the M852 better (or Mex match from M118) and the 4 grove barrels shot the M118 Match and Speical Ball better.

I ended up issuing two rifles to my rifle team members, depending on what ammo we had.

Its fairly good ammo, but if I was going to a match, I'm mexican match it using 168 SMKs at 2&300 yards and 175 SMKs at 600 & 1000 yards.

I still have about 2-3000 174 bullets we pulled from M118 making Mex Match. It makes good practice ammo. I also use it in my Vintage Military Rifles, works great out of a M1/M1903a3/and M1917.

Gonna try it in a Krag when my wife gives me my Christmas present.
