Took this ~180 pound 11 point the 1st afternoon of the VA muzzle loader season. Came through my set up hot on the heels of a doe, no shot and he was gone. Gave a couple estrous bleats, followed by some dominant buck grunts, and a couple minutes later back he came!
Walked into ~30 yards and started scraping and rubbing, couldn't see him due to leaf cover, waited him out, he left the tree cover, walked toward me and at ~20 yards turned broadside and I did the rest.
Good times!

Re: VA muzzle loader

Gun/load- My tried and true TC Omega, never missed a deer w it, 100 grains of 777, and on top a Hornady 250gr SST sabot.
Glass is a Bushnell 4200 1.5-6x32 in a DNZ mount.
Have taken a pile of deer w this setup, out to 147 yards.
Good to hear from some friends! All the best to you guys.

Re: VA muzzle loader

Man, that is a nice buck! Congrats. I got skunked during muzzle loader this year, but I still have a month and a half of rifle to go.

Re: VA muzzle loader

I run a similar load in my .45 cal CVA Mag-bolt. 200 grain SST-ML pushed by two, 50 grain 777 pellets. Absolute hammer on the poor deer!

Re: VA muzzle loader

I've tried both 150 and 125 grain loads but they are not as accurate as the 100 grainer, so am sticking w what works.
Here's the 2011 buck my 15 year old son took w my Omega's twin brother.
