Hi All. Happy Thanksgiving.
I am considering make an AR purchase. I have a few guns but certainly not an expert. Based on my research I think I want the 300 Blackout. The two front runners in mind are the FN Scar or Wilson Combat.

Anyone have both or experience with both?
Am I missing an obvious choice?

Thanks.

Daniel Defense M4V5. One of the best bangs for the buck for a factory 300 Blackout.

Re: AR Advice??

What is your purpose for a .300 Blackout? In one aspect, it's the best. In what I consider to be the two other main aspects, it runs a slow third.

I suggest for your first AR, stick with the 5.56. If you want a step up in power, and range, get the 6.5G or 6.8SPC (make sure it has the SPC II chamber). You may want to decide on a carbine or full length rifle.

Re: AR Advice??

I agree, IMHO There's somewhat of a learning curve with the AR, best to do it with the cheap, easy to acquire ammo. Unless you're hunting deer, or planning on shooting extreme long distances, there really isn't any need to step up to the larger variants at first.

Re: AR Advice??

thanks for your input.
purpose of 300 blackout? Just something different I guess. I am thinking though 308 may be better option since I have a 308 rifle.

I guess I should have mentioned I already have a sig 556.

Re: AR Advice??

I have a limited amount of experience with the FN SCAR and I am very impressed. I currently own several ARs and the one I like the best is a LMT in 6.8 SPC. The ammo is harder to come by so I end up shooting less because of the caliber. I have a 12” barrel on order from LMT with a piston and I will defiantly be shooting this one more once it is chambered in 5.56. One thing that should factor into your choice is whether or not you reload. If you reload, then a non 5.56 makes more sense. It is hard to beat the performance of a 6.5 Grendel. Don’t overlook LMT when you make your choice. I think you get a really good AR with an easy switch caliber option.

Re: AR Advice??

I'd suggest looking into the LMT as well, considering the MRP platform, and the ability to run different calibers, including the blackout.
