I have a Remington short action 700 BDL, chambered in 308 on a Hogue overmold stock that I would like to put DBM on. Is there a drop in detachable bottom metal out there that will fit this with out any mod's to the stock? I just want to change the existing bottom metal to detachable bottom metal with mag. DO NOT want to CHANGE stocks, I like the stock, it is cheap but comfortable and light. The rifle is very accurate with it and suits my needs very well. Just would like to change the bottom metal out to detachable bottom metal.

Re: Remington Bottom metal question ???

The Hogue stock is pretty worthless IMO.. I had one on my 700 SPS Tactical and it came off as soon as possible. It was a comfortable stock to shoot with, but accuracy improved substantially when I swapped it over to an HS Precision stock.

If I were you, I would swap stocks first, shoot it for a while, save up again, then do a DBM conversion. A proper one like the Badger Ordinance and have it professionally installed. Or just go straight to a chassis.

That will likely save you from doing the stock inletting and DBM install twice which will save you money and time.

Re: Remington Bottom metal question ???

I have a Remington SPS Tactical with the Hogue overmolded stock. I was able to drop in a Wyatt bottom metal with no modifications to the stock. It is a little tight and the magazine doesn’t spring out on its own but for me it is working until I can upgrade the stock. I got the Wyatt from Midway.
